When you go to Bootcamp for the marines, what do they give you? (ex: toothbrush, etc.)?

So, im going into the Marines and I don't really talk to my staff sergeant barely talks to me and my ship date is in a month. So i would like to ask the females if they know what exactly do they give you at boot.

Once you reach the famous yellow foot prints at Paris Island, you will be stripped of any personal belongings during processing. Unlike the Army that allows some things, the USMC will make sure they take everything from you. It will be given back to you once you complete/fail boot camp. Everything that you may need will be issued to you (i.e. toothbrush, tooth paste, socks, go fasters/sneakers, cammies, etc.). Of course they will deduct this from your pay that you earn in boot camp. As said in a prior posting, nothing is free in the military. Good luck and Semper Fi.

If it works like Navy Basic then they GIVE you nothing. They will issue you all of the neccessary hygenic supplies and it will come out of your first check. You will get a uniform allowance annually - the first allowance coveres your first uniforms.

The Military does not GIVE anything away - you work your *** off and earn it. This is true for all branches (work just has a different definition in the Air Force than the rest - lol).

You are issued a uniform and PT clothing. That is the only thing you are "given". The bases have little shops specifically designed for you to buy the other necessities. They should give you money to buy them, but it comes out of your first check. The advice I was given is to bring as little as possible. Most times they require you to buy new stuff anyway, in the interest of the group all being the same. (Like they require you to buy new running shoes so everyone has the same) This is a good site for the info you need http://usmilitary.about.com/od/marinejoin/a/marinebasic.htm

Not to sure about the marines but being a female that went to army basic training I can tell you that they did not issue you a toothbrush or personal hygiene items. What they did issue was the uniforms and boots. The class As were issued as well. Females receive more money than the males do because we have to purchase the undergarments where as the males are issued their briefs. To be on the safe side take 7 pairs of panties preferably white and 7 sports bras also white. Within the first few days of being there they usually take you to the px to purchase the items you may have forgotten.

I know the Army gave me a little book that had the basic items to take with me. You might want to see if the marines have the same thing so you are basically covered.

LOL I also noticed that a lot of MALES answered your question not the females like you asked for.

Well hell I went and did some more looking and here is what I found for you: The other services have lists of what you should or should not bring with you. The Marines make it simple: Don't bring anything except your important papers (such as driver's license, social security card, and banking information), except the clothes on your back. Everything you need will be issued to you. For non-issue items, it will be issued, and the cost taken out of your pay.

Medication. Over-the-counter medication is not allowed in basic training. If you bring any with you, it will be taken away. All prescription medication will be re-evaluated by a military doctor upon arrival. If the doctor determines that the prescription is necessary, the civilian medication will be taken away, and the recruit will be re-issued the medication by the military pharmacy. This includes birth control pills (for women). Women are usually encouraged to continue taking birth control pills during basic training, if they took them before going to basic, to ensure that their systems maintain their regular cycle.

YOu are required to bring the hygiene materials with you i believe they give you. tooth brush underwear e.c.t you get the picture, in the army i know they give you a option to buy these things at the reception battalion but that's the army and not the marines im not too sure of what is allowed either. i do know that mandatory regulations for the army require a tooth brush, deodorant, paste, underwear... once again, you get the picture...
