im really just looking for any information i can get right now. i know that you have to take tests and stuff and that depends on your signing bonus amount, but what else? what is the average sign on bonus. do you get it before boot camp. and what are you supposed to do if you have a family with no means while your spouse is in boot camp? i just really any information at all. especially about the timing. like how long before you sign, get the signing bonus, have basic training, and then how long after that do you relocate. i have an appointment with a recruiter this tuesday, but im just trying to set myself at ease with as much information as i can get on here. thanks for your time. please only answer if you know.

in the ARMY you may get anything from 0 - 40K siging bonus. if you get anything at all you will get half (less taxes) after you complete all required training. then you will get the rest in increments spread over the rest of your enlistment. you get paid from the first day your in so you will be able to provide for your family while your in basic. as far as relocation goes that will be as soon as you finish training. i dont know what jobs your looking at so i cant accurately tell you when that would be. your recruiter will be able to answer these questions for you when you talk to them.

there isn't always a sign on bonus...depends on the job.
you get it after you get through camp and are at your first assignment. (after 6 mnths)
what family ??? if you are a single parent, unless you have someone to take the kids, they will not let you join the military. You have to make sure the kids are taken care of BEFORE you leave for anywhere.
You relocate after your training, whatever that may be.(depends on the job you get)
Don't worry about money, you won't be getting much. (if you join to get a lot of money, the military is NOT going to get you much...)
If you're joining for the bonus, you need to find something else to do with yourself...they will TAX the bonus (this is the US) and it's not going to go far, cause it's a one time thing... |
