Where are all the flags?

why do i not see many American flags anymore. what does it take to wave a flag, is it to hard to wake up, put a flag up before you go to work, come home and take it down. where are all the yellow ribbons, can you not by some riibon and tie it around your tree. is it to much of a hassle to say a quick prayer, or does life revolve around you. did we loose all hope.

It's not "cool" any more, so they have put the patriotism away until the media tells them to whip it out again..

Americans have the attention span of a 3 year old. So they just got tired of the whole flag thing until the next time.

Unfortunately many of my hispanic brothers and sisters are waving their flag and not Americas. Not me though my brother is in the military and my family proudly displays the American flag on a flag pole outside our house. People now at days seem to have become very unpatriotic, they have forgotten everything this country stands for.

Because people are too busy fighting each other here than to think of anyone else loosing their life for them. Too lazy and self absorbed.

the American people have short memories and even shorter attention spans......I keep mine, flying 7-24 with my Marine Corps Flag underneath

God Bless America and dam all the Traitors!!!

10 feet from me is a flag that has travelled to more countries than most groups of 10 americans.

I actually miss being able to fly mine on our house. We are currently stationed overseas and live on the economy, so it's not exactly a wise move to fly the flag. But, once we return to the states it will be back out, flying everyday!

*Leti*
i agree. but i live on a military base and i see many American & Marine Corps Flags waving everywhere.....we have flags all over our house (American & Marine Corps ). It is our patriotic duty to make sure that our children know about how important these flags are and what they mean. anyway, i will make sure i put more up. (yellow ribbons as well, since my husband is deployed too).

Overall, the American People highly support our Armed Forces all over the world. Many flags are still flying, and many people silently say prayers. While it is true, the more people see troops, the less likely they will "thank you" When I was in the Army in Washington, D.C., people see the military everyday of their commute. It is no big deal, but that does not mean they don't support the troops or pray for their safe return.
PS: I have tried to make eye contact with many troops here in CT, and they usually don't look at you or hang their heads down. Stand Tall and look around! Plenty of flags all over New England.

Plenty up out here on the left coast. Even in Berkley and Marin County. Residential and business.

Mine is down temporary until I get a new one. The last was getting faded.

I had the magnet yellow ribbons on our cars, ya know , you donate a few dollars and get the magnet? They were stolen off of the cars. We have our flag and several people on our street do also, but you're right, it's not like it was after 9/11.
Maybe you, and I and anyone who wants to spark the interest of our neighbors again, need to buy some yellow ribbon and start tying ribbons around trees. People follow the crowd, sad but true. Anyway, I'll take patriotism any way I can get it!

Where are all the flags? Go to the following website, then click on PHOTO GALLERY in your state or any other state.

p.s. Mine is flying 24/7 on my front porch and one on the back of my motorcycle. There are SEVERAL on my street who also fly theirs 24/7.

I have 2 hanging in my front yard. I also have my grandfather's (Korean War veteran) flag given to him by the army at his death in my living room.

King Of Battle
Because people don't care about he war anymore.
hell how many people still know that we are still in Afghanistan. Probably less than you think.
Besides its not cool to support our troops anymore. after all
9/11 happened over 5 years ago. you cant expected the American public to be patriotic for more than that.
I remember when the towers first fell. I couldn't even pay for a drink at a bar without someone offering to pay for it. Now a days its a rare occurrence for a stranger to even come up to you and thank you for serving the country. Personally i blame the media. They never cover the good that we are doing in Iraq, all they care about is the number of Americans who died, and that is only in fine print at the bottom of the screen. Lets face it America cares more about Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan then they do about there troops who are fighting for there country

its kinda sad. our town has them. but they only put them out during important holidays i have two flags on slots on my shelf in my room one on each side. and we have a small flag out front. here on the east coast you don't see too many flags flying. my new car will have one where im going to place it im not sure. the antenna goes down i believe and its also a convertable. the sad part is when we were down the shore someone stole the yellow ribbon maganet we had on the car. a true shame.

Waving a flag is not a sign of patriotism or love of country. Plenty who wave our standard are anti-American in their views and their ideology.

Patriotism comes from within.... showing a flag is not going to change how one feels about ones country.
