Which branch for ROTC should I pick?
Find answers to your legal question.

Which branch for ROTC should I pick?

I am a junior in high school, and I am on a fence. I need to either pick the Army or the Marine Corps to do ROTC in college. I do not know which one to pick, i know I want to either go infantry, aviation, or armor. But I am thinking about what happens when I am done, after I retire. Because I am trying to be in the military basically my whole life, but what benefits does the Army have that the Marine Corps doesn't, vice versa? Or which should I pick based on benefits? Anything would help. Thanks.

I think that you should do Army ROTC, that is what I am going to do too. How many people in the real world actually know anything about the marines? Their divisions? Their duties? THEN think of how many people know stuff about the Army. Almost everybody can name something significant about the Army. I am not saying that the Marine Corps is any less of a service, but they are just not as widely known. In the long run, after you retire from the Army, people will most likely choose you to get the job, over the 20 year Marine veteran, mainly because they are more known to the public. But also, the Marines have much higher expectations than the Army does. If you are looking to get a job in the criminal justice field, government, or anything like that, do the Army. If you are looking to get a working class job, do the Marines. Always bear in mind that each branch has their own pro's and con's. The Army is good for putting tons of expertly trained troops and vehicles anywhere in the world fast. The Army captures the country. The Marines are good at placing expertly trained troops somewhere fast also, but not as many, they are more of a dot-dot-dot move along branch, The army does more of a sweep, if any of this makes sense to you. So, I say that you should do whatever feels right to you, and ultimately it is your choice. Either one that you choose, they are both very good careers and are honorable paths. Remember though, that I am not dissing the Marine Corps, I just think that if you want a better job after retirement commission on the Army. That's just my two cents.

ALLof them. You really don't pick which ROTC to go into, they pick you.

Apply for ROTC Scholarship for all branches of the military. IF you are selected by two or all of them, THEN you can pick which one you have.

ANY/ALL ROTC programs are good. There are NO Bad ones.

As the Marines are actually a part of the Navy, If you are considering the Marine Corps ROTC, Marines go through the Naval ROTC program.

Just because you want to go to ROTC doesn't mean you will be selected to go. For Scholarships, it is a competitive program that only the highest qualified candidates will be selected. Out of the millions of students thinking of doing the same thing, the odds are not in your favor.

Most ROTC Scholarships are granted to those who are anticipating a Math or Science related degree program. If you are thinking Business or Arts degree, your odds are quite a bit less as very few of those majors are selected for the program.

With ROTC, even without scholarship, you can still take the ROTC classes however you would have to be selected for the final 2 years.

The benefits after wards do not differ. Only difference I can see in enlistment is the bonus that you may get from the Army. It sounds like you're doing this for the benefits so go to the Army. I knew I wanted to be a Marine before I even looked into the benefits. If you're confused, don't join the Marines.

Army or Marines/ Infantry or armor or aviation/ What happens many years down the road? What's in it for me? Are these your questions?
What is it you are looking for? just a job or just to pay off student loans? Please don't join the military.

If for any reason other than I want to be the best damned (insert branch) Officer ever to lead, guide, and command my soldiers, to do the best possible job, then please don't join the military.

The troops deserve well trained, capable, motivated leaders who put the troops welfare above their own. Anything less is cheating the soldier.

Gee, I can join, pay off student loans, educate my wife, get more beanies down the road are ALL THE WRONG REASONS TO WANT TO BECOME AN OFFICER.
