Which branch of the military do you think is the most prestigous?

United States Marine Corps. Come On!!! Semper Fi, Trufle Hunden, The Mameluke Saber, the Dress Blues, First to Fight, Tun Tavern(and theres more) all Marine Corps tradition. All that came from the Marine Corps. Beside, the Marine Corps standards are higher for almost everything, Grooming and Appearence, Physical Fitness, Weapons Training and Hand-to Hand. And 13 weeks of Recruit Training plus the Crucible somewhere towards the middle of Boot Camp. Also, the USAAC and USAF have not been around too long compared to the other 4 services. The Marine Corps has been around since 10 November 1775.

Marines they are considered the "bullet catchers" but this is wrong. They are a distinguished military branch that has proved itself time and time again. They have deep roots in the other branches of the military and as Roosevelt once said "The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps! "

Marines. Most comradery, most teamwork, and it takes brains. Any air force guy can sit at a desk saying he got the position because he's smart, but an intel marine can take his desk with him into combat and influence decisions for operations. all while that airman is still at his desk working on his sewing technique.

Jopanoy, that might have been one way to decide the branches' worthiness - except for the fact that all branches but the Corps give awards out like candy.

(edited for the gentleman that made the MoH comment. No disrespect intended. I should have said awards, not medals. You are absolutely right. Poor choice of words. I'm sorry. I asked, and my Marines forgive me; I hope you will, too. I do stand by the comment, though, using awards.)

It's also false that other branches require higher ASVAB scores. It varies with the MOS; but the Marine Corps demands higher scores for certain jobs as well.

And consider this: The Marine Corps is the only branch that requires you to complete their recruit training if you've already served in another branch. A Marine going into the Army, Navy, National Guard, Coast Guard or Air Force at entry level doesn't have to do their boot camp. And a Marine who barely qualifies as a basic rifle Marksman will qualify as a rifle Expert in any other branch, due to the USMC's superior requirements. After thirteen weeks at either Depot, after earning The Title, yes...any Basically Trained New Marine IS that good.

All branches are necessary and deserve our respect and thanks. God bless all who serve with honor.

USAF - toughest to get into by and large. This isn't to say that there aren't EXTREMELY capable officers/soldiers in the other services too!

The Marines but special forces you can not over look the Navy Seals and the SWCC. They are incredibly respected and revered positions, although all positions in the military have my respect

Air Force without a doubt... You have to score highest obn the ASVAB and they're the most stringent when it comes to processing in.

The Marines are definitely tough...but not more prestigious

and Army/Navy??? No offense but I dont think they can say prestigious...just kidding.

Coast Guard: they still in the military?
Army: there is a reason we seperated (Cough ....ASVAB ...Cough)
Navy: when your stuck on a boat in the middle of nowhere with 5,000 other men
Marines: there good at what they do but we keep a lid on those we let in

AIR FORCE...no doubt about it.

I have twins...son in the NAVY, he loves to travel and has done alot....daughter in Air Force...my Father was in the Royal Air Force.

Marines go in 1st....& also get shot 1st...dangerous.

Just purely off of prestige you would have to go with the Army. It's the longest standing branch of service and has the most medals of honor by branch.
