Which branch of the military is best for me ?

I want to be an officer in the military . i want to see combat and have a lot of travel , but not be bored all the time. My grandfather is a retired Captain of the Royal Lao Army during vietnam war and came to America to train at Fort Knox. He tells me that the marines, air force and army can get stattioned wherever they want and the navy is always on a ship.

Combat rules out Air Force and Navy. Army isn't even worth discussing.
That just leaves the Marine Corps. Congratulations!

Okay. Every branch does some kind of ground combat. USAF contributes to convoy and drop zone security as well as pararescue. You would get assigned (usually) to a unit from another branch. They also have the best benifits, but you could get deferred to another job. The army is the fastest way to garunteed combat; if you request infantry it will not be denied and there are several other specialties (aviation, armor, etc) that provide combat. The marines is a great branch and has similar specialties as the army, but even as infantry, you could get stationed on a ship. If you want garunteed travel and excitement, the army is probably the way to go. The marines is probably a better branch, but there is a small (yes, small) chance of being deployed to a ship. However, if you put in for a combat zone, you will most likely get it.

If you want to see combat army, navy, or marines special ops
or just the regular USMC infantry
