Which branch of the military is it best to join?

Should have joined the Coast Guard, all the benefits, all the pay. Almost never go to some arab country. Besides that you get to see the results of helping people everyday, by actually helping and pulling drowning people out of the water, or seizing drugs from a boat, or finding some terrorist trying to get into this country and beating him with a stick. . . . ok we dont beat them unless they hit us first.

Navy, travel that is vacation like, not being "assigned" to different bases and such.

If you are happy with your job, your living conditions, the people you work with, then that is the decision for you. Personally I didn't want to ever clean a gun, march all day especially carrying a back pack, I wanted technical training, and at most I only wanted one roommate. So the Air Force was the best choice for me and I actually never had to have a roommate at all. That was a bonus.

I am an army vet, the army is the only branch that let's you pick the job or mos that you want the other branches they choose the job you do not you :)

Navy. The Navy has the most to offer. World travel, civilian equivalent training that really translates into private sector work. Advancement to higher ranks is an actual possibility in a shorter period of time. Least amount of combat, if you worry about that sort of thing, and you don't get stuck in one place like the other branches, advantage of being on a ship, disadvantage too if you know what I mean.

It depends on what you want to do, but the National Guard has more roles in helping the U.S. citizens (natural disasters, riots, troop support ect.).

Army!

Tell me how many people in the Navy, Air Force, and Marines get to jump out of a C17/C130, ride UH60s, take college after duty hours, go to combat and do real ****, and not have to be stuck on a boat with no alcohol when their day is over???

They all have their selling points. My Husband has been in the Army for 7 years. He likes it, as do I from a Military spouse standpoint. Not crazy about the deployments and separations, but that is todays Military.

Isn't it a bit late for you to be wondering if you made the right choice? I guess like everything else hindsight is 20/20.

You are probably going to get a lot of those who talk trash about our Military and all the fine young men and women who serve answering your question.....just ignore them and note they are the exception not the rule. I Thank You from the bottom of my heart for joining! God Bless you.

Depends on what you're looking for!! If you want adventure, go Army. (Prior Army, now Army wife) The only negative thing that I can say is that in my experience..... males in the Army have more advantages to get promoted. In the Air Force you have to test for your rank, while the in the Army you go to a promotion board...and if they like you, you get promoted (E-5 board). If you want to get the best training, go Navy. People in and out of the military knows that Navy has the best schools. I hope you find the service that fits you...Good luck, and thanks for considering the military...and protecting our nation!!!!

You are more likely to lose arms, legs, or have head wounds in the army or the marines. All of them are dangerous. If you already joined it's a little late to ask now.

Depends on what you want. I can only tell you what I have observed, since I spent 6 years active Navy, 6 years active Air Force and 22 years Air National Guard. The Navy has the best schools, particularly for electronics or medical. The Air Force has the best schools for aircraft repair and maintenance, and without a doubt the very best and easiest duty. The Army does have decent schools, but the Army is designed as a "fighting force" more so than the Navy or Air Force, so the emphasis in the Army is less on schools and more on combat training. The Marines have probably the least good schools (although I understand that their officer schools are excellent) but again, the Marines are the first to fight, so the emphasis again is no combat training. I have friends who are very proud to be retired Marines. I am proud of them for serving, too. Don't know any retired Army but I did know a couple of guys who served one term before they joined the ANG. That's where my info is from. If it's wrong, then I was misinformed.

I would say get information about each of our Armed Services and decide which is best for you.
