Find answers to your legal question.

Which branch of the military should I join(10 free points)?

Im in highschool and im planning on joining the military to get a scholorship for college. Any scholorships that I get my parents are going to give back that money to me, so if I got a full scholorship to the school I want to go to it would be like 15,000 per year plus the military salary in college. I also want to join the military because of the money saving benefits (health, food, housing, entertainment, etc.) and I need to know which branch of the military I should join which pays the best salary, gives the best scholorships, etc. In case anyone is wondering, I don't think i'de mind going on active duty

okay, everyones attacking me for being interested in wanting to make money. Money is the basis of capitalism, the military is a JOB and not a charity, the main point of a job is to make as much money as you can.

I'de be willing to bet that im more patriotic than most of you people anyway, my dad is a retired high ranking military officer and I actually have a good background of what military lifes like unlike most of you ignorant people who attacked me.

Actually, the Army has the best deal going on right now. You can enlist for as little as two years and pay into the GI Bill. Air Force min is 4 years and not too sure about the USMC but i am sure with them you will end up working too much to do anything anyways. With the Navy it would be hard depending on if you want to actually attend a school (i.e being on the ship) The Army reserve or the National Guard would really be the best way to go if you really want to attend a school full time and still receive benefits.
Talk to a recruiter as there are bonuses and such depending on the field you choose.

Get a scholarship based on your grades and need... not because you've figured out a way to rook the military in paying your tuition.

Go ROTC. Doesn't make any difference which service. You'll get your degree do your tour of duty... might even like it. But, if you go only for benefits and not to serve your country, you're defrauding the military, you're lying under oath. And for that, you want the military to pay your tuition?

There are military people who are afraid of the quality of troops they'd get in a draft. They're afraid a draftee might not be able to back them when the chips were down. Heck, I'd be more afraid of a kid who was only there for the benefits... What if the enemy offered such a mercenary a better package?

This kind of question angers me... you have no idea how much.

Gimme... Gimme.... GIMME... is that all kids can think about today?

Sorry. Kudos to Hokie... I was unable to prevent the vent.

If you want training and money for college here is the rank of the big four.
Air Force, Navy, Army, Marines.
If you want to avoid combat the Coast Guard.

The things you are asking about are standard across the military services-all the same. Figure out which one or ones utterest you and then see what they have available for you and then choose. Pay and benefits are a standard thing so you get paid the same. Navy ROTC scholarships are for the Navy and Marine Corps officer programs. It would be difficult to draw a full military salary and go to college at the same time with a scholarship as most scholarships require full time studies/lass hours. There are some programs out there that would do that but they are for active duty personnel and very competitive; you'd have to join and take your chances with them.

the coast guard has an awesome program. Its only for juniors and seniors though

Wow George, I think in your case you may want to consider an Academy. The Naval, Air Force or West Point. Check with your schools guidance/career counselor on something called a "soc" college or any 4 yr college that has ROTC and your college is paid for. I think you will owe 2 yrs of service for each year of college, but that's a great way to get a degree. I would check with a OCS recruiter in your area as well as your schools counselors, they usually have all the info you would need and help you with your application. Now onto the uniform. Let your family and friends help you, its a family decision, and best to wear the uniform of your Father, Grandfather or Brother or Uncle. Listen to your Mom closest tho. If she supports you going in, let her have a major say...gotta keep momma happy.

I'm not sure if the military is for you if you only want them to pay for your school.
If you go into the ROTC program, you have an obligation to serve a certain amount of time after completion of the program. Most people don't go to the trouble of becoming an officer in the military just to serve one term. They do it until retirement.

I shall say no more, for I may become hostile toward you.

The financial and support benefits for each branch are EXACTLY THE SAME.

It just depends on which branch you think you'll be happier in. I'd recommend some sort of reserve officer training program, but you wouldn't have much chance of being selected if your main motivation for wanting to join the military was a financial one.

Air Force - If you want to be treated like an employee instead of a soldier this is for you.

Navy - If you really like drinking beer and traveling.

Army - If you want to have the chance to be in combat but still want some freedom.

Marine Corps - If you want all the respect and you want to spend 2+ years in full blown combat.

Coast Guard - If you want all the fun of the navy with out having to leave the continental US.

All give you the same amount of college money.

Army. You've got huge enlistment bonuses, the GI BILL, etc.

Drock
all military branches have exact same benefits including education, TA, GI bill etc. for education Join the Air Force, because that is the only branch that gives you college credits for basic training, tech school and learning your job. community college of the air force? biggest community college in the world. enrollment is automatic. i got 24 credits just for basic and tech school training at the same time getting paid and learn good skills. every base has education center which offers various colleges from right there! take full advantage of free education to have something to show for when you get out, then u can use gi bill which is almost 40,000.

My dear I think you need to look at which branch of the military that you feel safe with and what you want to do with your life first of all. All of the branch will give you about the same amount of money for a scholorship program. First of all do you have excellent grades? Second do you want to be a Officers or Enlisted in the service? Do you want to do a lot of traveling? I would advise you to talk to a number of people who has been in the Military in your family and friends that you may have contact with in your school or church and see what they said about this matter. Lots of Luck to you.

Army gives you the most money. I signed a two year contract and got 32,400 dollars for college and a 5,000 bonus to spend how I please.

The pay is the same for each branch of the military. You need to go talk to all the recruiters, but your decision-making philosophy indicates you should stay away from the Marines - your philosophy suggests don't have what it takes to become a Marine. But you'd probably be happier in this order:

1. Air Force
2. Navy
3. Army
4. Coast Guard

It all depends of course if you have the education to get into any of them. They DO have their requirements for accepting people and you may not meet all of them.

Go with the Navy or Coast Guard. Ship life is a difficult life when at sea, but it's a heck of a lot better than being in Iraq. All branches pay the same; it all depends on your rank and how long you've been in. If you do decide on the Navy, look into getting the Navy College Fund. Insist on it; get it in writing. This is in addition to the MGI Bill. When I joined the Navy, I thought I was getting the Navy College fund, but I didn't sign the papers, so I was not eligable. Also, insist that you go to an "A" school; you do not want to join the Navy as an undesignated Seaman, Airman or Fireman (those are the crappy jobs). With an "A" school, you will train for whatever job you pick (I chose Interior Communications Electrician and my brother chose Electronics Technician). We went through extensive schooling, and it was worth it. By the time we were ready to report to our ships, we had actual job titles, as opposed to being "paint chippers."

Good luck.

I find it sad that you only want benefits from joining the military. Doesn't anyone love their country anymore? Don't join. We don't need or want you.
