Which ever branch you join is the best.
All branches are equal..They each have a different role to do. So it would be wrong to say one is better than the other. |

All I'll say is my dad was Army, my father-in-law was Army, I was Army, and both my sons ARE Army.
Then again, my husband was Marine Corp. My Daughter was Navy, my brother-in-law was Navy, and both my uncles were Navy.
As to usmcrjh2 reply, you can tell he's former marine corp by his login name...U(nited S(tates) M(arine) C(orp) R(etired) J(ar) H(ead), so we know he's biased (NOT a bad thing)(just pickin' on you usmcrjh2:)) |

First ask: These people that give you an answer, are they or have they ever done time in one of these branches or are they just repeating what they hear from other people? Neither is "better". They both serve seperate functions that are both vital for success in war. |

I had this arguement so many times with people in other branches of the service and people who know nothing about the military except from what they get on tv. i am biased, b/c i was a Marine. if your speaking to someone in the military, they are going to say whatever branch they are in is the best. it would seem dishonorable if you did not. however, as i grew and matured, i learned that each branch has their purpose and each performs their functions better than anyone on this planet. so to ask which one is better, your answers will depend on who your asking. you need to be more specific in order to get intelligent answers that have some substance. that way, you can judge for yourself which one you think is better. SEMPER FIDELIS!
inquisitive...that was the longest sentence i have ever seen. it's called a period man...use it, but don't abuse it. :) |

Basic training in the Marine Corps is longer than in the Army... so at least there we could say that the Corps is superior. |

Better at what? A really broad answer would be that the Marines are better at taking land and the Army is better at holding and policing it. The Marines generally have the ability to respond to an emergency situation alot faster than the Army due to the tens of thousands of Marines floating around the world on boats. |

They are all different and each have their role to play. One branch is no better or worse than the other. |

LOL that's a loaded question! Ask a Marine and he or she will tell you the Marine Corps, ask a Soldier he or she will tell you the Army, ask a Sailor well.......you get the picture! |

well thats your decision to make... it depends on what things you like to do for example if you like to be in active duty and see combat alot and go through training that is tough hard and rigerous but will ultimatley make you a stronger person as well as make you a part of a small and friendly family of troops than the marines is right for you but if you like a little easier training and being in a larger organization than i would go with the army |

Marines are a group of people, Army is an organization. |

I have serviced in both the army and the marine corp as an NCO in both. It is not which is better. It is what you make of the service you are in. It not the people around you. Both are ground fighting service. Did you know the army has it's own railroad and it own navy. Bouth have their own air support. Then the Airforce support the army. The Navy support the Marine Corp. |

well in the marines you are the few, and in the army you are a army of one. |

If you want to get treated like **** for 4 years then join the Marines and work with old equipment and out of date weapons. If want to get treated like a little less **** then join the Army and work with new equipment that cost more than the whole Marine budget. If you want a good life to make money and raise a family and still support the United States of America then join the Air Force. All the people that tell you that the Marines and Army are the best thing since sliced bread are usually 20 years old and have no kids and no understanding of what condition you body will be in after serving 20 plus years in the Army or Marines. They all have there up and downs but you need to go where you can actually spend time with your family and have nice facilities. By the way I served 4 years with the 2nd MEF and so far 8 years with the Army. I think they both have there ups and downs. If the DOD would give the Marines the proper equipment to work with they would be the best period but I'm going to have to say I would go Air Force if I had it to do all over again. |
