If you are looking for the best challenge:

Personally, I like the Army. If you want to be hard core, the Army has the Rangers, Green Berets, and Delta Force. The USMC has Recon which is basically a Ranger equivalent.

Unlike the Marines, the Army will guarantee MOS (job) in your contract whereas the Marines will put you where they need you so you could end up a cook, laundry worker or infantry depending on what they need.

Also, a much higher percentage of Army soldiers get opportunities like Airborne school and Air Assault school--almost 40% whereas the USMC sends less than 10% to such schools. The USMC is a fine service, but I feel there are fewer opportunities for training.

I was a woman when I went in. I can't answer for this transformation thing. You get out of life what you put into it. I think the air force has the best training, but I'm biased.

If you don't mind hard work, go army or marines, although your not going to have much of a chance for any additional training..... If you want something a little less physical, go for navy, or airforce, you will also have a better chance to up your education. Start with a navy recruiter, take the asvab, and see what kind of rate you qualify to get into.
The army will make promises of what you can do, but once they have you, they can stick you where ever they want.

I was in the Marines, Infantry even so of course I have a lot of personal pride. But honestly shop around for which one fits you best, which one can offer YOU the most. Uncle Sam is gonna take what he needs out of your service so try to make it the most enjoyable, enriching experience you can for the work. What MOS were you thinking about doing? Did you have a preferred duty station in mind? Want sign-up bonuses? Travel? I'll tell ya from experience if you want any of the "bells and whistles" you might as well keep walking past the Marine option, they tend to be stingy as hell. I think you'd like the Navy or Air Force possibly.

The Air Force has the best training and is like a normal job, plus the living conditions are the best out of all. I would say the Navy is second. The Marines and Army anybody can be a groundpounder

Just to let you know Navy CAN go to Iraq. I know my husband just got back. More and more Navy are going. So is Airforce. In the Navy you have alot of time to go to college if you want. Most people just dont take advantage of it. Good luck!

Bad Mother Clucker
My brother was a Marine. It's tough but there is great pride and brotherhood that go with it. That stays with you the rest of your life. My friend went into the Air Force, he got some good training in communications and he works for Sprint now.

Marines for the crazy brave.......brother hood and by far the hardest recruit training offered to both men and women. Air Force if your into tech stuff.

Each branch is different, and draws off from seperate mentalities. Its best to talk to each branch yourself and see which one fits you the best. As far as treatment the Air Force has the best Quality of life. The Navy has the best equal treatment. Army has the best variety of jobs, and the marines, well they are marines.

Any recruiting office you walk into will tell you they have the best training!!! The Navy and Air Force will compete about who is more marketble and which skills or more technical, but they will be telling you the same thing. They will tell you not join the army because they will promise you the world, only cuz they know you will be spending half your time in Iraq... And well the Marines thats only for the baddest of the bad, the toughest of the tough, and they offer the least amount of benefits as far as education, and the least amount of time to pursue it! They will all teach you things about life because you will be meeting new people and experiencing new things!

It all depends on what you want out of your enlistment. When I enlisted I was going to join the Army but my father, a 20 year Army veteran, talked me into talking to a recruiter from all branches and the Coast Guard. After talking to all the recruiters I decided that the best thing for me would be the Navy. I encourage you to do the same, speak with all branches of the military and the Coast Guard, and why not look into local law enforcement as well. See what they all have to offer and then make your decision. It helps to tell the recruiters that you have to decided to join, but you haven't picked a branch, they won't be as pushy that way.

You forgot the US Coast Guard. Training is only as good as the student and their desire to learn. Check out the options with the different requiters. Do not sign anything until you get what you want and get it in writing. If it is a career that you want all FIVE branches of the military are excellent.

Navy, they get trained the hardest out of those so that means that they will be stronger and might be promoted to the Navy Seals or something.
