I would suggest you look at each of them closely for what it is you would like to train to do. I would also suggest you select a career field in whichever branch of service you decide on that can be of use to the civilian community once your enlistment has expired. There isn't much call for ground pounders, bullet sponges, or aviation ordinance in the real world.
Whatever you want to do, make the branch of service guarantee your training in writing before you ship out. The navy is famous for signing people up as airman, fireman, or seaman, which translates to you do whatever they want you to do for a couple of years and then beg for a school, which has to be approved by your command.
Get it in writing. :) |

I like the Air Force. Fighter Jets are awesome, those things are crazy. |

i was in the USMC, so i'm a little bias. Truth is no branch of the military is "better" than another. You should focus more on what you want to do during and after your service time. Each branch has different things to offer. |

I say Air Force. The Air Force treats its personnel the best. I have been stationed at an Army (Ft Bragg), Navy (NAS Pensacola) and Air Force (Pope) base. By far the Air Force base was the best. From my experiences the Air Force is great. Great programs for personnel. The Travel is great too. Ive been all over in the three years in the Air Force. Have any Qs feel free to email camezcua9@yahoo. |

In today's world, knowing what they face when enlisting - anyone who volunteers for the service is a hero in my book. All deserve equal respect. |

Don't be misdirected here!! Every branch has their jobs to perform. You neglected to mention the US Marine Corps and the value that they perform for this Nation. |

Better is not important.Unity is the key to superior victory. It is the team that makes them the best. They are all the best at what they do. |

Each has it's own characteristics. It all depends on the field you want to go into. I joined the Army for the communnications field. And that helped me get into the radio industry.
Ask yourself if you want to fly, float, or walk. ;O)
But all are great for learning resposibility and self discipline. All are great to see what the rest of the world is all about. Iv'e been on 3 continents and in 5 different countries in the 4 years I was in. I learned alot about other cultures, I just didn't know that I was learning that at the time. |

Each one has its own special purposes. The Air Force is not going to fight a land war, just as the Army isn't going to give close air support. Each one is better in one way or the other but all are required to have a complete national military. I wouldn't want to be in Iraq without any of my other brothers in arms. |

Each one of them has its own unique role in a country's military and each role is indispensable. All three of them, quite often, form composite formations and task forces, for different kinds of military operations and training exercises, in support of their respective country, according to the country's policies. |

MARINES. I know you didn't list it. But I thought maybe you forgot. So I'll say MARINES. |

depends on what you want your MOS to be, any of them can be dangerous, the army has the highest casualty rate of the three. |

Either way you are serving your country... so now that that is established.... look into the benefits and the jobs... The Army gives your the most money for college, followed by the Navy, the Air Force and then the Marines!.... The Air Force has a standard of living that all of the other branches envy.... The Marines have comraderie like no other service, possibly because they are the baddest SOB's on the planet. The air force and Navy have the more technical jobs that would be comparable to a civilian job ... The Army has the most jobs available to choose from... In the Army any MOS can be trained into infantry, in the marines you are a rifleman first your MOS second... Th air force tends to have slower promotion rates, the Army has the quickest! My best suggestion to you is to walk in the recruiting offices...the recruiters seem to carry the vibe of the service, i have been to more than one recruiting office for each service, whether for myself a friend or family member, and you can tell what service they are recruiting for even if weren't wearing uniforms! |

They are all good for different reasons.
Army - this is the bread and butter of the military. Alot of grunts, the largest force. There are alot of MOSs that transfer into the real world. Mandatory Physical Education, that means getting up early. Very easy to make rank.
Air Force - this is the service that is known for having the best standard of life for its members. This is a fact, as the Air Force was the first to put its members in single dorm rooms, and allow enlisted to live offbase at their own places. One of the safest branches during war since many AFSCs can support any war while the grunts remain stateside (the planes go out). Non-mandatory physical education, while having some of the best gyms around. Highest retention, though hardest to make rank.
Navy - this will enable you to see the most different countries of any service. The downside is that you won't get to spend much time in each. A ship that can move from port to port will take you to many different ports. Not the best choice if you have family because you can be at sea so long. Great if you're single. However, the living space is crampt, and you have to share bunks with someone (hot racks anyone?). This means that when you wake up to go to work, someone else takes your bed. Ewwww. I'm not too sure about rank there.
Marines - the biggest and baddest SOBs on the planet. They generally scare me. Many of their MOSs do not tie in directly to the real world. After all, if your specialty is ordnance, what job are you going to find on the outside. Great at what they do. Expect alot of time with your rifle and running and lifting. You life revolves around staying ready for war.
Now keep in mind that I was Air Force, so take the advice for what it's worth. Air Force has alot going for it, but there might be something that appeals to you in another service. It's not really important which branch you choose, but service in any branch is a great calling. Best of luck to you! |
