Which should i join, army or marines?
Find answers to your legal question.

Which should i join, army or marines?

ive heard many things on both. like how the army is a much larger force and has bigger and badder toys, meaning less unnecessary casualties (unnecessary casualties, not total casualties). On the other hand, the marines provide better training and therefore are better prepared. drawbacks include long deployments for the army and for the marines, i guess not having the newest and coolest toys to save your a$$ is a drawback.

quality of life does not really concern me (the marines apparently have the worst of all the branches) so that is not really a factor. but the honor of being one of the few and proud does intice me a bit. which should i choose?

and please dont tell me that the marines are badass and the army are wussies, this is kind of an important decision, which needs a lot of consideration. thanks much

hey chess piece guy! shut up! You dont know what the hell you're talkin about, i doubt you had the balls to be in the service.

If you are worried about equipment and **** like that, then dont. The army and the marines both have different yet similar equipment, that is mission specific, like the army doesnt have aavs cuz they dont do amphibious landings, but they have bradly fighting vehicles and strykers. but for the most part the equipment is about the same. KEEP IN MIND That they train marines to do more with less. But as far as equipment goes, they have beefed up the FMF with new stuff since the iraq war started. hence the m-16a4, and all of the optics (aimpoints, nvg's, acogs, psq's) but they are equiping everyone with new stuff.

As far as numbers, yeah army has numbers. Marines are Marines though, and i wouldnt go into combat with anyone but marines. the training and the culture is more agressive and disciplined and theres alot more pride and a higher standard.

They also trust marines to do alot more. Such as in a boat company they have lance corporals as coxswains for zodiacs and typically youd have to be a ssgt in the army to do something like that.

Marines have 7 month deployments, but they dont just go to the combat zone, they also go on the Marine Epiditionary Unit, they go all over the world.

But most of all, being a Marine isnt about the gear you have. its about being a Marine. There is alot more pride in a marine about his line of work, about his culture, about everything. And thats because you earn that title every day that you are alive, and you bust your azz to earn the right to be a marine- a soldier of the sea. So if you got the guts to do that then do it. be an 03.

oh yeah, and you choose the top 3 mos's that you want before signing your contract. you do get to pick your job according to what is available. and you also get to pick the top 3 duty stations you would want according to whats available. but you have a better chance of getting your mos than your duty station.

And oh yeah..... They break you down and build you up as a marine. The purpose of a marine is to go win wars. were america's shock troops. Dont listen to people who presume to know what its all about, that havent been there or done that.

im a paratrooper in the army, i got my job and airborne school in my contract. I would say the main difference is deployment length. the infantry in both branches do the same thing. a lot of the time marines will go into a villiage first, take it over then leave it for the army to hold down. but army does too. just depends on the mission. army offers a sign on bonus and guranteed MOS. Marines offer a certain feild, then they pick a job for you in that feild. you think the army has better equipment? we got guys in my plt who have plain m4s with iron sites only. some guys in the company still have m16s. our vehicles are always breaking, both of us have the new MRAP vehicle. its pretty much the same

do you want a guaranteed job or do you wanna be pushed into a job you don't want and then face being stuck in an office pushing paper?

because the Army DOES prepare out troops AND we guarantee your job.

Puffs nails it dude. USMC sole purpose is to create marines. They decide your training, they'll allow recruits to pick a feild of their choice, but they detrmine your position. Their creating marines. They tear you apart rebuild you to serve their decisions over your future. ~Good Luck ~

I suggest not joining the military, unless you want to become a chess piece.
