Which will be better Air Force or Navy?

My husband is thinking about going into the Air Force or Navy. Which one will be better for our family?

It depends on the family. They both have special operations units that fight a lot, one of the best in the world. But I would choose Air Force for you because Air Force people don't have to spend 6-9 months on a ship at sea.

both branches have their advantages but in my opinion the air force would be better for your family because they tend to travel less than the navy

ANGGELICA
Air force because they travel less depending on the job you pick

there both really good.
but from what ive been told, read and heard, the AIR FORCE is better.
even though all the planes that are used in the US military comes from the Navy, the AIR FORCE has better benefits.
good luck, to your husband and your family.
[[im also thinking about joining the AIR FORCE]]
:) best of luck

Navy will advance faster, but he will be out at sea 6months of the year(if he wants to advance).

Air Force is traditionally slower in promotions since no one ever gets out.

Finally, I work along side some navy people and he told me stories of cleaning the filters in the shower drains on the ship...I am so glad I joined the AF. I was torn between both..

the divorce rate is much higher in the Navy.

Air force is more family oriented....so is the Army.

The promotions are very slow in the Air force, though.

Pros and cons everywhere...

As much as anything else it matters that your husband is happy in his job. You wouldn't want him to hate going to work everyday. That being said has he considered what jobs might interest him? That might give you a better indicator to which he should join. I would also offer that you don't limit your choices to the AF and Navy as they are both downsizing or balanced forces. The Marine Corps and the Army are both growing and thus promotions are quicker and bonuses are larger. Also in the Army you have a bigger selection of bases.

On the which is better for the family question it is true that both the AF and Navy deploy but it is the nature of their deployments that probably interest you. Naval deployments might be a little longer than AF, but it is much safer floating on a boat for six months than going on a ground deployment for an often shorter period of time. And Naval deployments are scheduled and you know well in advance when your husband will be gone. As long as security allows you to know this.

It is a lot to consider. Good luck!

probably Air Force. i think they earn more money and what not. my bf is in the Air Force and he's been getting paid really good lately and he just graduated basic about a month and a half ago and hes at security forces tech school right now and he says "i'm satisfied with the Air Force life...for now" not sure about the Navy though but i would go with the Air Force.

air force has treated me well so far. i mean if you want him to be home a lot depending on what job he gets assigned i would go air force. he wouldn't fly or anything because you have to be a officer for that but the air force is where it is at. contrary to belief the air force is not downsizing on enlisted just officers, because there are so many leaders and not enough people to be led.

actually, first person who answered...you don't get to PICK your job.

i would recommend the air force. they have been good to us so far.
