That was answered in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries, and the U.S. wasn't even a large country or world power then.. |

If you look at U.S military spending...it exceeds that of the next 15 countries combined in ranking of military budgets...in a conventional war, the U.S would defeat Britain in less than a month most likely... |

Let's see. The UK is the size of Alabama. ....I would say the US would have a bit of a leg up on this. |

The US would win in a war against Britain. With that said, does military power equate to being the "best"? Who exactly determines what the best country is in the world? I also would like to add that the US and the UK would never get involved in a war against each other, what would be the purpose? |

I very seriously doubt that would ever happen. But the UK would certainly lose if it did! |

The USA doesn't have to be the best country in the world to beat the UK handily in combat. And, I'm sorry, but the United States would wipe the floor with the UK. It'd be devastating. Fortunately, we're allies, and we just beat up other countries together. Now, please, stop asking such ridiculously immature questions. |

The answer is pretty obvious because it already was tested twice, look into a little thing called the "American Revolution" or "The War of 1812". Besides right now the American Military is extremely trained due to the fact that many soldiers serving have combat experience under their belts. |

Who wins in a war when good men on both sides die. Do we have the only good men in the world and nobody else does? Please? |

Considering the US has enough nuclear missiles to place one every 2 miles across the length of the country...............hmmmmmmmm.
But truth is, what the first responder said. Russia would be the big winner, if there were even a world left with people. |

It would be a draw. Both countries have nukes. What good would it do to invade the UK, when they could incinerate several U.S. cities? |

Gotta have more explosions!

Look at the War of 1812, I hear some nuggets say?
Ok, I'll go over it again. The United States is upset with Britain over naval conscription of American sailors and a blockade of France, so decides to invade the British colonial possessions of Canada.
The Americans are quickly defeated in Canada, beat back onto their own land and fight it out there for the rest of the war. Their capitol is burned down, they sustain more losses and lose the last battle of the war - not the Battle of New Orleans, but the Battle of Fort Bowyer in February of 1815.
The Treaty of Ghent favors nobody in particular - the Americans are eager to get out of the punchup they initiated but failed to win, and the British have a more important war with France to conclude.
---
And yes, some people like talking about how many nuclear bombs the US has. When was the last time they were used in a war? And besides - Britain has plenty of those too, and the means to put them anywhere. Considering the Royal Navy has submarines equipped with ICBMs armed with a nuclear payload, trying to "wipe the floor with the UK" would be a poor idea. |

Ok I'm an American of course I believe America would win just because I'm a patriot and do to the amount of money we spend on our military. However, It would not be done in a month, or even several years for that matter. The fact is, this would never happen. America an England already fought, and England could have won if they didn't have to send their troop across an ocean to fight. That was over 200 years ago. Americans have been blessed that war hasn't happened in resent years on their homeland like it happened to Poland, France and England during WWII. Yeah Pearl Harbor was bombed but that was a military base away from most non-military personnel, civilians. The Brits have survived thousands of years without losing their homeland and I doubt, America could simply take over. I was in the military and I know who my allies are and if I was ordered to attack England, I wouldn't do it, I took an oath to protect and serve my country and allies from tyranny. I know that people in other countries think that Americans are dumb, and believe me their are some stupid people here. But not all Americans are dumb just like not all Brits have bad teeth. Though there is some truth in stereotypes, you can't judge all by the actions of some. Brits need to understand that most Americans are not dumb, just ignorant of certain intellectual information because of a lack in good affordable education. Though that same dumb American you hear about on TV can most likely fix your broken car, build you a house, or show you how to catch a fish the size of your little sister, something that most intellectuals would have a hard time doing. My grandmother didn't get past the 7th grade and she is one of the most fascinating people I've ever known. Sorry to get off track, America and England wouldn't go to war with each other, if they did that would be a very sad day. |
