Who believes a country's propaganda more than its own citizens?

No-one, especially the lower classes. The ignominious rout of the B.E.F. in 1939 was celebrated as the Miracle of Dunkirk. The disastrous efforts of Orde Wingate's Chindits in Burma were transformed by the press into heroic success - and into historical "truth"..... the list goes on.

Yes, but school history still teaches that the Tudors were descended from Britain's previous royal family when they were just a bunch of usurpers descended from a previous king's valet.

I couldn't diagree more, a lot of people (including myself) think that dunkirk was as equally a great achievement as Normandy.

I think you are just sceptical.

Don't get me wrong, the government does like to paint a pretty picture, but sometimes they are right.

The Nazis recruited many thousands. Those people willingly gave their lives in the name of what they thought was right. That's why we must examine from all aspects why we go to war individually and if it's for the right reasons. Anyone is recruitable to any philosophy or way of thinking when the proper means and methods (i.e. propaganda bandwagons) are used. And that's why I abhor religion. It attacks individualistic reasoning.

It's usually intended for the country's citizens. One exception is the current eco-bigot propaganda. That reaches most of the world.
