The Treaty of Versailles imposed on Germany in 1919 to end WWI
It imposed impossible conditions on Germany and led to the rise of fascism. The same mistake was NOT made at the end of WWII (See the Marshall Plan).

well there are a number of reasons I do not think you can pin point one thing/person not even Hitler...
Because Hitler would not have succeeded if it weren't for WWI, the only reason the German people accepted Hitler the way they did is because they were left impoverished after WWI... and WWI was a result of Franz Ferdinand being murdered... so it was a series of events that lead of WWII |

There were lots of factors, but only one factor that can be directly blamed.There was a rise in fascism in Germany. Italy and Spain. However, Adolf Hitler was the leader and figurehead of the Third Reich in Germany, without him WW11 could have been avoided.
So I guess you have to say Adolf Hitler was the primary factor. Everything else followed. |

Liberals would say it was the fault of the Western Democracies because the Treaty of Versailles at the close of WWI was very very mean to Germany and Germany had the right to attack everyone because of how they were treated, so the US, Britian, France and the Allies of WWI are to blame.
