That depends on what you mean by "best". In terms of manpower, money, and technology, the US is definitely the best. However, if you define "best" by the skill of the individual soldiers, the British come out best -- they have the SAS, the Royal Marines and the Parachute regiment, after all -- due to their far more intensive training (the Royal Marines have the longest basic training course of any normal infantry soldiers in the world).
So, in terms of "which individual Army is most likely to win a war against a foreign power", the US would come out top. But if you were to give the US and the UK the same amount of men, the same amount of money, and the same technology, the US would be crushed, because British soldiers are simply better.
So, it all depends on what you mean by best.
Plus, the IDF's pretty fantastic, too -- but, of course, there's been a huge amount of British influence on their attitudes towards tactics and training ever since the British taught the Haganah (of which the IDF was formed) how to fight when they teamed up together during the 1936-1939 Arab revolt in Palestine. USA of course has been since WW1. The most powerful navy controls the seas. if you control the seas you control the air and all the land surrounded by water. The Isreali military is badass though, they train more intensely than any other military.
No country mobilizes like the USA though. they are the most efficient fast acting military. they get bad rap because the world watches the actions of the US military and judges everything they do |
