The way he turned Germany around after WWI and his ability to unify his own countrymen would suggest he was a great leader.
However his crimes against humanity would suggest he was a very evil man that probably didn't get hugged enough as a small child. |

He was an evil leader but the little short man who saw himself as a half-breed did a wonderful job getting his countrymen to follow him. |

I think he had a great ability to rile up the people.

He was not a good leader if we look at him being a fascist dictator, however as an historian we have to look at this neutrally.
Hitler could be said to be a good leader, for example: in that he was very charismatic, and was opportunistic.
However, looking at this in they eyes of the rational; he was evil and deserves the punishment he is enduring in hell right now. |

Aside from his twisted world view and dreams, he was a great leader. He turned the entire country of Germany into a single voice, we will never see anything like that again. Who knows, maybe that is good. |

I think he was a brilliant leader. Great? Well, he did get the German people out of a huge depression. |

Head of the Socialist Party in Germany. A lot of politicians are presenting Socialist ideas right now in America. I assume that party claims they don't like Hitler because he has a bad name though secretly they must love Hitler, Stalin, Po-Pot, Lenin and a lot of the other Socialist and then Communist leaders because they want to follow the same road. I think this is wrong and discusting and he was a horrible man though I'm a Republican and therefore beleive in the constitution, equal protection under the law, smaller gov't and capitalism. |

If you strictly look at leadership qualities he was an outstanding leader. He motivated people into doing the worst things one can imagine. If that is not great leadership skills I don't know what else you could ask for.
No leader without followers, and many people followed him. Since nobody has been able to truly analyze how that could happen I think Hitler qualifies as a great leader.
I guess for the same reason Putin was named Man of the Year by Time Magazine. |

First of all I do NOT condone any of Hitler's views, ideals or methods. Not only was he a great leader but he was also a military genius.Had he and his generals not been so hasty taking over more than one country at a time,we would ALL be under Nazi rule today.THANK YOU GOD. |

Yes, he was a terrific leader. But throughout history, great leaders have taken advantage of their abilities to sway people, and used it for the wrong reason, just like Hitler did. |

Although he was Evil, he was still able to motivate his countrymen and pull his country out of the Great Depression. It's unfortunate that he went about it the way he did. So if you are just looking at his leadership qualities I guess you'd have to say he was successful. |

Whoops, is this your spleeen?

It depends how you define "great". You can't almost take over the world without being a great leader. Unfortunately his thinking, character and cause were reprehensible. He embodied the worst in humanity - the desire to divide people according to cultural differences and punish those not like himself.
Hitler was himself driven by hatred. And hatred is just fear in it's most hideous disguise. And unfortunately, Hitler was able to play on the fears of others in order to intimidate them and gain their complicity in his actions. In that sense, he was the embodiment of the fears of Europe at that time, essentially he was the dark side of humanity, psychologically projected onto a world leader and thus given agency to kill millions of people.
Was he "great"? That's too simplistic. He was dynamic, charismatic, power-hungry, hate-driven and politicaly saavy. And economic conditions and cultural attitudes gave him the opening he needed to kill millions of people. |

he was an extremely smart person, he just didn't use his intelligence for the good of the world. He was a good leader in the sense he got people to flow him with out question. But i do not believe what he did was right so he sorta was a bad leader in the sense he lead bad people. |
