wars are inevitable. but they are never good. To say so is like saying going blind heightens your other senses, or having cancer gives you character.
Nobody wants or needs cancer. Sure if you get cancer, you'll probably come out a stronger person if you get rid of it. but that doesn't make cancer good.

we haven't been on the defense for over 60 years now. Even WWII wasn't purely defense because of Pearl Harbor for the simple and proven fact that Pearl Harbor was ALLOWED and FOSTERED to happen by FDR. I'm not making it up. people like the History Channel and many others are saying it.

ALL of the wars that any country participates in that does not involve the DIRECT DEFENSE from a PRESENT attacker are nothing more than MASS MURDER and TERRORISM.

By the way, war make the world that it is now. Heroes existed only during war. Technology advanced faster due to war.

you have to remember if you think war is stupid, if your an american then you will believe your whole way of life is stupid. please remember if it wasn't for the WAR against england you wouldn't have the "free" lifestyle you have now. slaves wouldn't be free... germany would have invaded a lot more places... etc. there is a lot of good things that came out of a war.

Whether war is stupid depends on which side of the war you are on and if you are living in a sheltered safe life. For the typical American teenager, war would appear stupid because there is little direct impact on his or her life except to hear that people are dying. At different times in this country's history, war was not thought of as stupid, but a moral obligation. Look at World War II, or the Revolutionary war. Very few people thought those were stupid wars for Americans to be involved in. However, even the modern wars the Us is involved in have different perspectives.

If you were a Kurd living in Norther Iraq facing percecution and living in fear, you would not think that the war in Iraq is stupid. On the flip side, if you are an Iraqi insurgent fighting for what you see as your country's survival, this war is not stupid. If you were a member of the Northern Alliance in Afganistan struggling against the Taliban, you would not believe that the US involvement in the war was stupid.

War is a tragedy. Yet, this world is not yet the peaceful utopia many Americans want it to be. War is still very much a reality throughout most of the world. In most of the war torn regions it is in fact part of the culture. As long as there is some country of group telling other people how they should live their lives, what to say, what to think, there will be war.

You're right. War is stupid. Other than abolishing the enslavement of the blacks, ending fascism and nazism, the soviet union, and establishing freedoms for the underdog, war has never stopped anything. We should all juts stop fighting....

ok heres an answer from someone in a war, war is a bad thing, no one can deny that, it can at times be stupid (not all the time mind u) there are those times it is needed to reseave resaults, such as the WWII u cant deny we couldnt just talk to hitler, he was after all insaine. some ppl dont lisson to all the reason u ppl can throw at them, that is where my job comes in, and we try to prusuade them to be more open minded to doing right for a change, saddam was a lunitic that gased his own ppl with NBC, now u can not convince me we should just sit with him and discus it over tea and crackers and expect results, we had to come out here and get them for our selves.
