I don't see this as a bribe. The US has a long history of supporting our allies with arms. Sometimes, that comes back to bite us, but we believe we should support our friends however we can. That is how I see this.
BTW, I do happen to think this one will come back to bite us. |

I would think it is better than giving unfriendly Arabs military hardware. One must always consider the alternatives. |

they are not bribes, more like stategic partnerships with "benefits"! |

Who's next? Probably whoever would be opposed to Iranian aggression, so I wouldn't be surprised to see an arms deal with India or Turkey pretty soon; it's not bribery, either. Simply put, its strategically engaging and supporting possible future allies. |

Bribe? Don't they usually bash people into submission? Why pay out good money to foreigners when you can pay it to the Military Industrial complex instead, and achieve the same result but with more (self perceived) honour for "Old Glory"? |

All major powers supply other countries with arms it is an everyday practice so whats your point? or is this another dig at the Yanks?. |

These aren't bribes, this is called good relations. Plus it makes sense to sell our stuff to countries that we could possibly be fighting on the same side with in the future, because then integration is more likely if a country is using our equipment and trains the way we taught them. |

Well, the politicians in DC have bribed about 40% of the population into voting Democrat. All they need is another 11% and we will have a one party system.
40% of Amercans pay no federal taxes. Many of them get back more than they pay. Democrats are now trying to get a portion of the lower income to no longer pay social security, medicare or medicad either. Much of the State and Federal welfare system is one big bribery scheme. Every cycle candidates say it is not enough, you are starving, you are living in cardboard shacks, you are playing with an outdated video system. Elect us and we will kiss your *** and make it better.
Sounds like bribery to me. |

Well having been anti-Arab fro decades this, if true, will make a change. Does this military hardware also include a nuclear capability? or is Israel the only country in the Middle East to be allowed this? |

I believe this comes from the American links with Olde England gentry, and is about a sense of fair play.
America needs to give weapons away so they can have someone to fight in 10 years time.
They wouldn't want to be going down the same path as Isreal does against Palestine, and use tanks against people armed with sticks and stones.
Not very sporting old chap. |

Hmmmmmm?
Doesn't Haliburton need protection over there?
No bribery needed. Investment done already. American jobs lost and outsourced. This isn't bribery, it's job security?
You see, if it's done so many years prior, it doesn't count. Statue of limitations.
They are just getting Cheney's protection together when he retires in 2009.
Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh........ |

No one left, they have bribed everybody including China Russia and the Taliban |

They aren't giving they are selling. Its a pretty smart move actually. The US is now in debt and all and because of the obliteration of Iraq they have made the balance of power in the middle east so unstable that everyone there is at each others throats just an inch away from war. So the second the US offers to sell high tech weapons to them they of course are very eager to buy. |

what gave you the idea USA was giving the arms away how do you think they became the richest country in the world |

Study history. The President of the United States, and its elected officials, will do anything to promote their personal agenda.
The colonists were led to believe they would be "protected" and "represented" by a government that was "for the people". They soon learned that those who were so adamant about "protecting" them were only concerned about themselves.
The "ordinary" U.S. citizen will one day realize the U.S. Government is not looking out for their interests; and will rebel. We will stand in our yards and on our rooftops and declare, "We've had enough, we won't stand for anymore"! There will be another revolution. |
