Hezbollah wasn't destroyed, Israel didn't gain as much territory as they probably wanted (hence the urgency of the last 2 days of open conflict) and they couldn't effectively stop Hezbollah missiles from hitting Israeli towns.

I guess Israel lost, and Hezbollah won, in that sense.

The true losers are the people of Lebanon of course.

to determine who won we need to examine the objectives.any ten minute study online will afford you that.Israel accomplished none of their stated goals,destroy hez.free soldiers,destroy missile capability..etc. Hezbollah on the other hand stated no objectives save prisoner swap.but you cant count that as a objective per se because this was stated before the war.remember ,kidnapping each other tit for tat, missile here missile there was the accepted status quo.the [war] surprised even Hezbollah.so by virtue of the undisputed fact that many Israeli soldiers and others in Israel dont believe they won,read some of their papers.they know it well,and by virtue that Nazrallah is the new "Salahudeen;" if you like,victory went to Hezbollah.you dont bemoan a victory,you bemoan a loss and in Israel there is nothing but regret for their failed misadventure.

As for football - some countries will sign you to certain contracts to play for the country. But it depends on the sport and the country. However many sponsors will pay you, if you're good enough to play for your country.

Israel lost; did not manage to destroy Hezbollah, did not dismantle them, lost more than 170 soldiers and still has to negotiate for their 2 soldiers for whom the war started!
Naserallah won the middle east heart and mind.

Both lost to some degree but I think Israel lost more and the Lebanese civilians lost the most.
Hezbollah gained LOTS of support both in their own country and the surrounding ones. Israel got an area along their border partialy cleared of terrorists/freedom fighters.
Hezbollah lost some soldiers, most of it`s ability to fire rockets into Israel and became responsible for an army invading Lebanon. Israel lost most of it`s remaining support, a few million dollars and 100 soldiers.
Lebanon lost a lot of it`s southern infrastructure and 1000 civilians.

The winner of this war is Hezbollah. Although more of Lebanese were killed during the fight, Hezbollah found to be harder to crack by Israel. In short Israel fight with women and children not Hezbollah. How many dead bodies of Hezbollah army do you see since from the begining of the fight? But go to the other side and check, you will find the real answer of your qeustion and others

Hezbollah still exsists, and Israel is still where they have been since 1946 (and still a potent military force).

The international match between Isbollah and Hezrael was a score-draw and only the Israeli soldiers/politicians, whoever sold weapons to either of the two sides and diplomats at the UN got paid. so long.
