Russia, technically NATO has no standing army. It is composed of whoever wants to send troops.

An interesting scenario, but we need more information. I'm assuming no use of nuclear weapons.
1) Russian Incursion into European territory. Possible rerun of Blitzkrieg in WWII, with evacuation of Nato forces to the UK, eventually resulting in American-led recapture of mainland Europe.
2) Nato incursion in Russian Territory would result in superior weaponry annihilating them, much like both Gulf Wars. Russian retreat into hinterland to regroup and rearm would not be effective, due to long-range bombers being able to reach them. This situation assumes that Nato forces are victorious quickly, before the onset of winter.

Both have nuclear powers so this would probably end in worlds ending. Especially that its progressed at 2012.. NATO is bigger people/money wise, but Russia is capable of everything and has huge powers.

Umm, did you know that Russia is a Partner Country of NATO?
You need to look at the Member States, and the Partner Countries, and their proximity to Russia.. yes, Russia has a large military, but they are poorly trained, and have inferior systems.
NATO... except for the Russian Partnership.

Probably, hopefully, please God, Russia will win, since in a war between two kind of equal powers, in which one fights for the survival of its land, while the other is a spoiled society fighting for "leadership", the patriotic power wins.
