The Darkness Returns

Let me see that means that the US Army can use the A-bomb which definitely make the entire Roman Empire into a mushroom cloud. The Romans don't have a shot. |

hmmm, Abrams Tank vs. chump-with-sword, shouldnt take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. |

I'd take the 11th Armored Cav over the entire Roman army any day. |
|

Well, when they were in their prime, the Romans didn't have tanks and bombers and Howitzers, so I'd have to put my money on the USA |

I believe the US Army in it's prime would win the war. Technology would be the major reason. |

Ummm, lets see.... swords versus rifles... I'm going out on a limb and say the US army. |
|

I think our technology would kind of dominate them. It's like who would win: the lawn mower or the grass lawn? |

Today's Military has the weapons to support a more hands off approach. We can shoot a cannon much further than they could shoot an arrow.
If it were hand to hand, the roman army would kick our butts. |

Swords, bows, and arrows against machine guns? Not really a fair competition, to be honest. Or do you have other assumptions about technology, numbers, political desire, etc? |

uhh considering the roman army in its prime only had spears and pointed weapons and the american army has nuclear weapons in its prime
the american would destroy them without even leaving the east coast
stupid question |
|

Who?
|
Well since Rome had swords and cannapults and the US has M4 Carbines and Nukes....lol..do you really need to think about it? |

US Army...A couple of airstrikes and it's over. |

The U.S. We have all of their military technology plus advancements over the last few centuries. The machine gun alone would be all the weaponry needed for taking on the Romans. Besides, the Romans didn't have bombs. |

the us, the romans only had spears and bows. not a good match up. |

The US army ,if you were around during world war 2 you would know -----NO one can beat the Americans when the chips are down they will do what ever it takes to win, losing is not in there nature , are army is always prime . |

The US Army was in it's prime right around the Gulf War: soldiers covered in kevlar with M-16's and escorting M1-Abrams tanks vs Roamans covered in bronze with lances, swords, and gladii, and occassionally form a "turtle" for protection. AMERICA HANDS DOWN!!! |

they US without a doubt! let's just say Nuclear Bomb! |

US Army of course consider the level of technology at the time when each country was in its prime. |

USA, any time. The technology of weaponry alone is enough to turn the tide.
Consider the "evolution" of weapons and armor.
Midevil (not too far different from Roman) had chainmail armor, swords and bows/arrows.
With the invention of the crossbow, chainmail was replaced with solid piece armor.
Then guns were invented and most armor was abandoned due to cost and weight of material to defeat musketballs and bullets.
With the musketballs even in the revolutionary war, the US army could destroy the romans from a much greater distance and much quicker. |

well if your using the equipment they had in there primes, well I would have to say the US wouldn't take even one loss. A single platoon with its full auto weapons would be able to cut down all the Romans before they even got close enough to attack.
if you mean with the same equipment, hmm well I think the Romans are better trained but The US military I believe is larger, could be wrong though, and if it is they would win because of numbers alone. |

we have guns they had spears and bows and arrows. i would hope they wouldnt stand a chance. but all things set even we would still win because of modern day warfare is so different from romans had ever seen. |
|

HHH
|
The US would beat the Italians today(which makes a change because the American military is a load of bollocks) but they wouldnt of done so back in the days if the roman empire(although the Americans werent even around in the Roman times)but it was the British who had the biggest empire in the history of this planet. |
|

nononsense
 |
no brainer. the roman army in its prime only had swords for weapons. you know what is in the arsenal of the US army. need i say more? |

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you. I just LOVE questions like this one because the answers are SOOOOOOOO funny. You just made my day. I love you too.
P.S. I think they'd be instantaneous peace and surrender between them cuz they'd be facinated with each others history and technology. |
