Al-Queda represents a group of Muslim extremists. Muslim extremists hate an society that operates freely outside of Islamic law (women must cover themselves in public etc) The United States is a country that does not operate under Islmaic law, and supports the growth of other free societies, so naturally Muslim extremists aren't too happy.

because we are so different from them, and we encourage free thinking, and freedom. and women have equal rights. ideas that scare them and undermine their power. also by attacking us, they get thier names in the news. unlike if they attack some country that no one has heard of. they get more sypathy attacking us, but if they attacked some tiny country everyone would know them for the cowards they are.

First off, Al Quaida did not declare war on september 11th, 2001; they declared war even far before the khobar Towers bombing of 1996. Heck, they delcared war before the first World Trade Center bombings of 1993! Muslim extrimist want war with America at any cost. They know that if their people got a taste of freedom and were allowed to experience choice, they could no longer keep their own people in a strangle hold of fear and brute force.

They fear western capitalism (U.S.A., Germany, U.K., France and Russia) becuase of how sucessfull a free society is. They dont want people to have freedom of religion or free exchange of ideas. If people had a choise, then they couldnt force their misconstrued religion down their throates.

Thats the reason that they are at war with us. And not just al quaida, but Hezbollah and the MILF (funny name, but it really stands for Moro Islamic Liberation Front of the Phillipines). Right now Iraq is a pretty messed up place, but it IS getting better, no matter what the media tells you. And the reason that the terrorists are attacking their own people (middle eastern muslims) is because they too now have a choice, and if their own people have choice, they they will declare war on them as well.
