Ask yourself this: Has the past 8 years and even beyond that made any difference in Iran's foreign policy? The correct answer to that question is no. Obama is using a new approach, a new diplomacy. He wants everybody in the world to know that the US ways of ruling with an iron fist is over. The US needs to be more diplomatic and talk out the issues more. Too many ignorant people in the world think the US should dominate the world. That should not be our goal. Our goal and duty should be to the earth and to each other. The question each nation should be asking ourselves is how can we live peacefully and in harmony with each other and help the earth heal the damage done by humans (especially by Bush and his censorship of environmental reports).

because the US removed the shah and allowed a islam state to be formed. After seeing it a failure they tried to undo that, failed bitterly and have tried to economically cripple the country for 30+ years. Plus of course depicting them as part of the axis of evil didn't really make friends there.
