I too was in the military but between you and I ...lol well and whoever reads this I went AWOL as soon as my unit was leaving how stupid fighting for what?
I agree with you. I would be ashamed too. You know I am sadly ashamed of a lot of people right now. Mostly I feel sorry for all the young ppl like me who think that the only way to college is the miltary.
Anyhow, I could go on for hours but this is enought fo rnow.
hope this helps!
Love the question by the way!!!! |

He can use the GI bill to go to college or even get a degree while he is active (once the war is over). You shame him by posting this question. It was HIS choice. |

You will regret that thought one day. |

Believe it or not, the military as a whole has a higher level of education than the general public. Plus, he can still go to college and have it all paid for by the US Government. I'm sorry that he not a snot nosed loser brat like you want him to be. |

why
you should be proud |

He's ashamed of you for being such a self centered pain in the @ss. He's a Marine. If it's what he wants to do you have no say in the matter. |

You should be ashamed of yourself, not him. |

sheesh you should be proud of him. maybe he wanted to serve his country first before going to college. you should be ashamed of yourself for even admitting to this even anonymously.
you even have the nerve to question what type of future he has as a MARINE -- he's a MARINE -- you really should be ashamed for this. |

He's serving our country. That's a future. He will get credit towards a college if he chooses to go to one, and will get a ton of scholarships for enrolling and participating in the military.
You shouldn't be ashamed of him. Many great people serve in the military. |

Will you just stop with the fake, trolling questions? It's getting silly. 'Other Service Veteran', my chiseled chin. I sincerely doubt you ever served in the military.
Now, to answer your question, officially:
You are ashamed because you don't understand what he is doing, contrary to your previous claims. He can still go to college, thanks to the G.I. Bill and other federal grants.
And not every Marine has to use their military specialty in the civilian world to benefit from their overall military training. There are very few similarities between my military & civilian jobs. But if you had served a day in the military.. you would have known that.
Edit: And you nephew is not the one decdiidng military policy; he is simply following LEGAL orders. Be ashamed of Congress & the President if you disapprove of the war (BTW, I also disapprove of the war in Iraq, for other reasons). But to say you are ashamed of your nephew (who doesn't exist anyways, because you're simply trolling for answers and trying to stir up trouble) is ridiculous.
Sorry, Erudite, but your name is an oxymoron. Your knowledge & understanding of the miltiary is severely lacking. |

And I'm pretty sure he is ashamed of you. How dare you be ashamed of a man who is willing to fight for his country! You must be some sort of left wing nut. I am ashamed of you, as I am sure, most Americans are. Simply disgusted. |

He can still go to college courtesy of the government. Serving in the military is something you should be proud of. I don't know why you're ashamed, he still has a great future ahead of him with a lot to accomplish. My brother was a Marine, and now he's a college graduate with a good job. He says going into the Marines was one of the best things he ever done and he's proud he served. |

That's just silly. It isn't much of a future, but I'm glad we've got guys like him. I have a nephew in Afgahistan and a brother in Iraq. I'm at the same time worried for their safety and proud of them.
You should be proud of your nephew. Its people like him that make it possible for us to lead the lives we live. We are safe from harm here because we have young men like him that are willing to go stand in harm's way and protect the rest of us. Even those that are ashamed of them. |

You have some serious concerns.
Your nephew is serving his country - and not thinking in your terms - me,me,me,me,me. |

He still can go to college or he could make a decent career out of the Marines..... Which brings us back to your original question why are you ashamed of him? |

You should be ashamed of yourself....not him! He (and thousands other's) are fighting for your right to live AND express themselves (just as you did) for this land of freedom.
Shame on YOU! |

He is a special forces Marine. Why would you be ashamed.

There is nothing more honorable than serving your country. Maybe he's not thinking about his own future, but instead what his duty his to his country. Maybe you should check your priorities if you are ashamed of what he is doing. |

You are ashamed of your nephew because he is a hero and every time you see that is like if the world will be robbing in your face what kind of people you are. I am ashamed of you! It is not your nephew you are ashamed of, it is yourself you are ashamed of, and you are right by being ashamed of yourself. Shame on you!!!! You owe your nephew everything you are allow to be. That is right, even your shame, your nephew is so noble that he is putting his life on the line so that you can have the freedom of being ashamed of him! What a great man your nephew is!!!! God bless your nephew!!
Airborne. All the way!!!!!!!! |

If it wasn't for brave people like your nephew we wouldn't enjoy the freedoms that we have in the United States of America. Do you really think he enjoys what he has to do?My second cousin got his arm shot off in World War II. He said that his worse memory of the war was having to kill an old lady that looked like grandma. She was running toward their fox hole. Many women and children carry grenades. Please look at it this way, if our brave soldiers don't go fight over there ,some day they'll be fighting over here. |

You are limiting yourself to a Linear point of view right now and you've likely done so all your life. One day try opening up your mind to new ideas and other peoples points of view. Try broadening your horizons. Try putting yourself in someone elses shoes to see how they have arrived at their own conclusions which are separate from your own. Always remember that everyones different and diversity is what makes this country the amazing dynamic place that it is today. |

I wish I knew you personally so I could give you a shaming. He is fighting for your right to be able to sit on your lazy carcus and type in this stupid, idiotic question that doesn't even deserve an answer, instead you need a Butt whippin just for being that stupid. Maybe when martial law is enacted and your right to be a degenerate is taken away, your attitude will change. I'm done here!! |
