To find and capture/kill those responsible for the 9/11 attacks on the US (and other minor attacks before and after 9/11). Also, to keep the Taliban and Al Qaida occupied fighting in that area of the world so they aren't attacking targets in ours.

Due to our world's globalization, every part of the world is crucial to the US's security. And Afghanistan is included in this. The US and its allies need to prevent terrorists from using Afghanistan as a safe haven since the country's own government is incapable of preventing this.

There's this one dude that likes to lead up operations that fly planes into buildings. SUPPOSEDLY, the military (the world) is looking for him. His name is Bin Laden.
There are these other nasty little groups that are well known for doing stupid things with explosives...they are called Al-Quida and Taliban.

We are there in order to bring the fight to them. If we go away they will come to us again and there will be another 9-11. We are also trying to eliminate the terrorists. We have been extremely successful too. Russia told us where not to go, but we went anyways and have been successful. The end is in sight, but it will be a while.
