It seems the countries have been almost tolerant of their activities.

the ONLY way to stop the pirates is to begin a ground assault or simply fire warchips at ground targets. We know where they live and we know the towns protect them. People are afraid "innocents" might be killed.
What really needs to be done is telling the locals to leave and hitting the pirates locations with the big guns of a battleship and from warplanes and drones. That's the only real solution, hit them where they live, on land. They aren't that bright and most are ignorant teenagers terrorizing people anyways. |

We are. I was a corpsman with an infantry unit that, as part of a MEU, assaulted a beach in Somalia where a pirate camp had set up, and our sister company assaulted a pirated ship by fast-roping off of their birds. |
