Why are gay people not aloud in the military?

if they are aloud in the military, they'll be kicked out for speaking up. They aren't ALLOWED in the military because the military seems to think it would be bad for the morale of other soldiers. Having been in the Army, I personally wouldn't have cared if another soldier was gay. Now, I wouldn't want to work with a flamboyantly gay person, mostly because that annoys me. The current policy of "Don't ask, Don't tell" technically allows gays to serve, but they must remain in the closet. It's only a matter of time though before they're allowed to serve openly. Would you believe that once upon a time black people were completely segregated from white people in the military. Now they're fully intergrated.

The military is by nature and tradition a very masculine place to be. And even though there are plenty of gay people that could whoop some ***, it's not really considered "masculine" to be gay. The military has a long tradition, and that tradition just takes time to change and adapt to the modern world.

They are allowed under current legislation, but they cannot be openly gay. It's a small step up from past policy.

thought at one point they alredy were allowed .think perhaps it was changed.as far as known thought this matter settled during sixties or after.maybe an administation has backtracked.

This is all a lot of BS. the government is the people that made up the rules saying you can't discriminate based on orientation tada! the army--the hand of the government--does it.

For many reasons.
First of all the military doesn't use interior designers.
The military doesnt use "hair stylists"...they use barbers.
Excessive giggling in the fox hole would give their positions away.
In the Navy, every time an officer said Seamen...gays would run to the mess hall.
Skipping through mine fields isn't a good idea.
You cant accessorize a uniform.
You cant throw a hand grenade with a limp wrist.
When a drill Sargent give you an order........"thuper" is the wrong thing to say.
The words "simply fabulous" should never be used during war.
And the number one reason gays shouldn't be in the military.

The same reason adulterers are not allowed. The behavior is disruptive to good conduct and morale.

To focus on the "gay" issue is silly, there are hundreds of behaviors that will get you kicked out of the military, look in the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

as long as they dont do anything gay or be openly super gay they wont have a problem. I am in the military and I can tell you, i know some gay people here.

Because every other country we have beaten militarily openly allows gay people.

Because we have a lot of good ol' boys in the military these days and they don't like the concept of gay people, nor do many of them want to shower with you in boot camp or live with you and your lifestyle. It can lead to you getting your a** beat and/or killed. Trust me, it's not to be predjudice, it's to keep ya'll alive.

Also, you can be in the military, you just can't be openly gay.
