It's funny, I've never once seen an article online or offline that said "Soldier spit on and attacked" If it happened, the media would be all over it like flies on poo.

What really shocks me is no one is protesting the War on Crime or the War on Drugs. Maybe if we posted and reported the death rate in those 2 wars, people might want to see those wars come to an end as well.

I have NOTHING against our soldiers. I'm proud of them for serving their country. When I see one, I tell them that.

However, I am strongly against the Iraq war. We have sooooo many problems here on our own soil, that we need to fix. How can we serve others best when our country has so much bad stuff?

Because they can't get close enough to their elected official to spit in their face. Sort of a "shoot the messenger" situation. The soldiers are only doing what they are told and many people are ignorant to this. The soldiers go to war with the best interest of this country in their hearts, and they are only pawns of the political game.

The vast majority of people against the Iraq war feel the way they do based on their concern for the safety and welfare of our soldiers. I have never seen nor heard anybody disrespecting a soldier...quite the opposite. I know what happened after Vietnam. It is not, however, happening now with the exception of a tiny few.

As a veteran myself, it boils my blood to hear of soldiers being treated poorly upon their return. Regardless of whether they are spat at by a moron or their medical needs are neglected by the military or the VA. However, it also bothers me to see good men and women dying.

War should always be the last resort. And it is critical that those capable of starting a war realize that, as their butts are not on the line. It isn't the President or 99% of Congress that are dodging bullets or IED's.

So, I was against the war in Iraq from the very beginning. I felt that there were other options available for the United States to use prior to sending soldiers into Iraq. I felt that our politicians were not being genuine. Evidence now seems to suggest that the major reasons why we went to war in Iraq were false.

Now that we are there, we have to finish the job.

You can hate the act of war, but you should never hate our military.

The big issue is that originally, President Bush thought the terrorists that attacked our country were from Iraq. It turns out that they are actually from Saudi Arabia, but since we already turned Iraq upside down and inside out, we can't just leave it in a mess. That's why our troops are still in Iraq and people are pissed off.

I'm sorry, but I think people are against the WAR, not the soldiers. I sure have never seen or heard of anyone spitting on a soldier, although crap happens. I wouldn't believe everything I on Y/A. I'm not going to go into the reasons why people are against the war , because if you can't even at least understand another person's point of view, then it's not worth even talking about. I don't agree with the war, but understand why *some* people believe it is just, even if I 100% don't agree with them. I'm sure that some people would argue though that these soldiers weren't drafted, so by signing up for the military, it was their choice to go to war, or if they signed up prior, they agreed to go to war if a war happened. I believe that is why some people may my unsympathetic.

Your question states the fact. The war is stupid and being waged for the benefit of a handful of rich people. The politicians who started and the generals who perpetuate this war are criminal, liars, thieves and people of no honor or shame.

The soldiers are brave people doing what few Americans are willing to do. They should be applauded for their dedication to the country and their duty.`

Someone who spits in a soldiers face (or anywhere in the direction of a soldier, sailer, airman) should be taken out to the remote section of the base and given a strong, thorough lessen in history, government and military fighting skills. During Viet Nam we would take folks out behind the hangar and have a "chat."

The spitter is a confused coward who does not posses the personal strangth of character to stand up for what he believes and too stupid to learn and understand the dynamics of the situation. The spitter is only smart enough to understand that he has that right to express his vulgar view towards a soldier. He isn't smart enough to understand who protects that right for him.

Your question is a little misleading. I'm against the Iraq war because it's costing U.S. taxpayers $5,000 per second, wrecking our economy, needlessly killing U.S. military personnel and Iraqi civilians, destroying our international reputation, creating terrorists, empowering Iran, weakening our military...etc...etc. All to make rich contractors and oil execs even richer. Having said that, I have a deep respect and high regard for the U.S. military, and agree with you. At the very worst they're well meaning and patriotic pawns in a rich man's game. Just like most of us, only braver.

people may be against the war because they see that it's an unjust cause..it's for oil..so, therefore, they think that our time in Iraq is creating a bigger problem and creating headaches which we don't want..
