My husband is in the Army. I tell people I'm pro-life. Then, they see that I'm married to someone in the military. They accuse ME of being pro-war. Just because my husband... AND your sisters... DEFEND our country and its people, doesn't mean we LOVE war! It only means that they are brave and can honor their country in ways that others are afraid to. Your sisters are wonderful for what they do. It pains me to know that they are in a war that is meaningless at this point, but it's a war that will be won! Who cares if it's over oil, terrorism, or whatever?! Our Commander-in-Chief said 'war'... now we're in it. Why start our own war about IF the war should be fought?! Support the troops so that they FEEL supported. Otherwise... WHAT ARE THEY FIGHTING FOR? I wouldn't fight for freedoms of people who didn't support me! Cling to the American flag... or GET OUT!

I am a Recruiter now, for the last 2 years, I have been in for 11 and spent 2 tours in Iraq, it also kills me when someone comes up to me and asks if I support the war b/c I am in, or when I try to talk to somene and theyre like, my son/daughter doesnt want to go to war and die.

I joined the Army to better myself, to receive a free education, for the adventure, travel, for job experience, to be a soldier plain and simple, if I have to go to Korea, the Netherlands, Ohio, its doesnt matter, thats where I go, just b/c I am in the Army doesnt mean I like whats going on in Iraq or anywhere else..

People get shot everyday on our streets, just recently in a church, just b/x you go overseas doesnt mean you will get shot..

I could go on and on, but we both know things wont change.. Ignorant is just that!!!!

Some people have a have hard time separating the soldiers from the mission. Soldiers are just instruments of policy. They do not get to decide whether something is just or not. They obey their orders. Everyone should thank their lucky stars that we have young men and women who are willing to place themselves in harm's way. People should try to understand that no one in the military actively courts the idea of war as a general rule, but they accept that sometimes it is a necessary evil.

So many people see being in the military and being pro war. It is not. It is a job. A job that is no different from a Police officer or Fireman. A solider protects our freedom even though it may cost them their life. I come from a military family. Uncles, fathers grandfathers, brother etc all in the service or have been. It is very easy to LABEL when you do not understand or want to understand. We understand that sometimes war is a necessary evil. Our history shows that. Slavery was abolished thru war, This countries freedom from the British was gotten thru war etc. We have to remember that they have a right to say what they feel. Our constitution guards the freedom of speech. Just be at ease that you are not alone in you frustration. Just smile and say "YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO YOUR OPINION, BUT PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR RIGHT DID COME WITH A PRICE AND THAT PRICE WAS WITH WAR."

Well, almost my entire family is military, both of my parents were officers in the Army, two of my brothers are officers in the Marines, my younger sister is a Captain in the Army and myself, I am also a Captain in the Army, soon to be a civlian again, the countdown has begun. Anyway, on my second trip to Iraq, I was shot in the shoulder, so i have a nice reminder of my trips there. While home, my sister was hit by an IED and she was pretty banged up, but I was attending a funeral for a friend killed in Afghanistan and we encountered those crazy church guys. Anyway, long story short, the patriot riders were there for us, it really brought home the fact that it is all about who you surround yourself with. I am proud to be from a military family, and am proud that there are those out there that will always have my back, as for the rest, i have neither the time or the inclination to deal with them. I would suggest you do the same, keep those with common sense close.

I honestly believe that the type of people you talk about here just never take the time to think this very important issue through. I guess they're so busy watching Entertainment Tonight and all the other crap on TV that they just don't take the time to "get it." These people don't realize that many of our enemies only respect power, whether we use it or not.

I did not support our troops going into Iraq in 2003, but since it happened, I support every ounce of the effort put forth by our precious servicemen and women. I follow their work, and I watch as much coverage as possible, and I can see that they are the very best this country has to offer. It's very obvious.

Please share with your family that there are many people out there, like me, who have the deepest respect and gratititude for the people like your family who give of themselves for the rest of us. May they all be kept from harm's way, and return safe and sound, because they are the people who deserve to benefit from our freedoms the most.

Do not try to figure out why folks suffering from mis firing spark plugs come up with the crazy stuff they do. It seems normal to them because they are Abbey Normal. All it will do is force you to put a nail in the wall so you have something to bang your head on.

Could be worse. In my day I was getting spit on or at (they aimed for my feet a lot) got slapped and "baby killer" was screamed way too many times. So much for being in a unit on Presidio San Francisco.

Best thing to do is nothing or just smile and say "Well you are special aren't you!".

The problem they suffer from is poor vision. It is very difficult to see clearly when your head is so far up your butt that you are looking out your own eyeballs.

many people support the troops, because we understand they are doing their job. these same people don't have to support the war in iraq.

the fight in iraq has nothing to do with 9/11 imo. george w bush misled us. it has since come out that evidence for wmd was not as strong as the president told us. i think he just wanted to one up his old man, who left saddam and iraq alone after dessert storm. even george the father knew what a mess it would have been.

some fights are worthy... following bin laden into afghanistan would have been the worthy fight, now, i believe, that opportunity has slipped away.

do you know george w bush - after years of refusing diplomacy and time lines - is now rushing to sign an agreement with iraq that may give them - the iraqi gov't- control over US troops.

i can understand you're being upset when people ask silly questions. no one is in favor of war. no one wants their loved ones in harms way.

i do hope your sisters and their fellow soldiers keep safe.

Some people try to use everyday discussions to provoke an argument. Those kind of people start to become very unpleasant after a fairly short time.

Just remember the quality of people saying that to you and your family. They really don't think things through. I know those comments anger you, as they do me, but just remember, those people are idiots who don't deserve you getting so worked up over. Don't give them that power. You said you don't support war in Iraq or Afghanistan but some how you can claim that your sisters are defending our asses. How can they be defending us if you believe they are doing something useless?

Maybe you are stating that you don't support war in general which is probably what you meant.

At least your sisters did join in the military which 90% of Americans who are either lazy or coward wouldn't do. I think sisters are better people because they actually did some thing for their nation.

Hell, most of our elected officials didn't serve but your sisters did which also makes them better people than our own elected government officials.... That is sad that we live in such a nation.

Edit* the national anthem thing doesn't bother me as much as those activist who say our war in the middle east is unjust and that our soilders are baby killers... Last I checked Bin Laden took claim for 9/11 in a video which makes him an enemy in a justified war.

I respect your sisters doing their job but that's it. I surely hope they will not be killed or hurt there. But besides that, since I don't support that war, I can't agree with you. They are not fighting to defend me or even my country. They are just a tool for wealthy people to get even richer.

I can't understand how people fight for their country. It is a lie. When you are under attack, oppressed then yes. But it was clearly not the case in 3 of our last 4 wars.

Also, I can't understand how your sisters agree to go there. I would have gone to Iraq the first time (1st war), but not the second time, for sure. I would fight for ideas and principles, never for my country, as my country is obviously not always right
