No the 'hostages' are not hero's, they are serving members of HM Forces, it is their chosen employment and they are paid well for it.
I do fail to see why they gave more information than 'name, rank and number', for this they must answer to their superior officers as a matter of course. |

This seems to happen lately when soldiers are captured. I mean, Jessica Lynch got a bronze star for being captured...what's up with that?
They admitted to going into Iranian waters in front of a camera! They're retards as far as I'm concerned.

Ask any POW, and they'll tell you that EVERYONE will break from torture.
Since they weren't tortured and capitulated pretty easily and began collaborating immediately, it does make you wonder. |

Maybe because they survived. Seems you dont have to actually do anything heroic to be a hero these days. |

didn't realize they are objectified, but it's the media's turn on things. the soldiers in Basra aren't heroes either. they are just men and women doing their job. |

We can only speculate as to what level of duress these Brit troops were under. Maybe they threatened not to give them their tea for the afternoon, or was working on them with a cattle prod. But' anyone that go to the front line, while I sit in front of the TV, is a hero in my book. All soldiers are heroes. Some just demonstrating different levels of adaptation. Welcome home boys, I for one don't care about your apology, just that you can get back on the line even quicker. Let the politicians play the games, just keep the muzzle pointed down range. |

To call them heroes is okay, after all ,Beckham,Rooney and the rest are dubbed as heroes!. We will probably never in our lifetimes find out what went wrong and brought about their capture. Bliar will ensure that the record is sealed for fifty years to protect his legacy. Isn't it surprising how reticent Bliar has been?. Yes, our soldiers on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan are heroes in the real meaning of the word. |

They arent heros, they should eb put on trail for aiding the enemy, tehy did way more than was necesasry to aid Iran in their failed attempt at creating anti-us propaganda. Their superior or them should be courtmarshalled. |

Who says they are heroes? I agree the word gets overused a lot these days (eg: Jessica Lynch, a hero for getting taken to the hospital by Iraqis). Everyone in the military is a hero now, so what do you call those who really go beyond the call of duty?
But you don't know they weren't doing their job properly. They were hopelessly outgunned, and fighting back and getting killed would have created a much bigger incident than occurred. |

Why not?
They created the mess out there with the creation of peace on earth goodwill to men for the good of mankind in planet of apes.
They opened up the tunnel with lights at the end of the tunnel in planet of apes.
Hip hip hooray to the sea-scouts and little mermaid out there in planet of apes. |

I don't know who refered to them as heros, you may be overstating that. I also dont understand why you would accuse them of not doing their job properly. You might want to investigate the facts a bit more throughly, then form a conclusion. |

Getting taken hostage in enemy territory is far more scary than everyday combat. In Basra they know they'll be getting crap everyday. For those taken hostage, they don't know what comes next.
The troops that returned from Iran did the right thing in a scary and difficult situation.
The troops in Basra have always been recognised for doing a fantastic job of keeping the area as calm as they have for as long as they have... not by violence either.
You can accuse the 15 of not doing their job properly if you know what their Mission Objectives were. You don't so hold your dumb tongue. |

They are all hero:s.
It would take up all my time to explain, then you may not agree.
But thank life we have those "HERO"S"
The world is so mixed-up.
"LETS HOPE" if that's the right word. |
