Why are the Black recruits not enlisting in the military like they did before 911?

it is difficult for the black man after all the love,acceptance and the like that the american gov. has shown them to go and slay someone becauase the same gov.says they are Your enemy.black men who think ask why in the yr.2007 am i still called names and treated in the worst way by white america?why do they lock car doors when the black man walks by?they ask why do the deny me what they dont deny whites.why should i fight and die for the same ol same ol? those who take black people to war have yet to go to war for them in white america.

I joined in early 2001 before the war. There are probably declines for all people joining since 2001. It is not a race thing at all.

Black kids have much better street smarts that white kids. They see the pimp game that's in play by the Bush administration and they know it's all a crock o chit.
White kids may get higher scores statistically on, SAT tests etc but when it comes to common sense issues black kids know how to sniff out someone's game.

The article itself offers a couple of very good reasons: "...as other job prospects soar and relatives of potential recruits increasingly discourage them from signing up." Why should they go get themselves shot if they can make money here?

I don't know the exact statistics but I'd bet the number of white recruits we down post 911 also, sure probably not as much as the african americans but I'm sure they were down too. I know we're recruiting alot of hispanics from all over south america today. There's a war going on and people just don't wanna go. I don't know if I'd go as far as questioning their patriotism and loyaty, you'd have to ask them on that one.

Facts are facts all else is opinion! i would have to say ask anyone in that age group why i am sure there reasons are as diverse as the occupations they can get at home. Now my bad side speaking if you notice there are More blacks playing sports than any other race and they get paid 10 times as much why would they join the armed forces and get shot at for a country they are not happy with if they can stay home and play a game and get paid ten times as much.

Maybe because the military is not a good option, for all races. The military is stretched, you would be deployed for at least half of your four years, and probably even more as they drag you from the inactive reserve. The military does not pay as well as the civilian world, you are not treated well enough stateside. Perceived benefits such as free healthcare are sorely lacking, and you are not a free man until 8 years after you leave the military (something that can be daunting with us involved in 2 military conflicts with a third one looming over the horizon.) Anyone with half a brain can tell that being a temporary soldier is not possible during wartime.

Probably because the Army is no longer a free ride. And not just blacks but A LOT of creeds, races, religions. Now when you join the Army the chances of you actually being DEPLOYED is HUGE.....not many people are willing to take those chances. It was A LOT easier back in the day when you joined the military, stayed stateside for 4 years, got paid for doing next to nothing and then got out with the ability to get a good job because you were in the military. NOW, you join the military and are sent to Iraq to risk you life......

Because they are cowards to be honest. It use to be a easy way out of low level neighborhoods, but now, it takes being a man and putting your life on the line for your country, and many youth of today, all races, have been brought up to not think much of what they have and the cost of having it.

Cant pass the physical requirments, too much fried chicken.
