Few people have what it takes to become a marine and we are proud to be one of those few. |

They have the toughest boot camp.
Every Marine is infantry first and all else second. From the two-stars on down, the trenches are their prime directive.
They are what is called shock troops. They are what you throw at the enemy to demoralize them and obliterate their will to fight. Marines do a fine job of that, and sadly, that price they are all willing to pay ... It often comes due.
You have to not care if you die to be a Marine.
Anyone who disses the Marines doesn't deserve to live under the U.S. flag. |

They are the few& the proud because not many people become marines, And it is an honor to be a marine. They're proud because they're the few, and they're the few because they have the strength to be one of them. Not many people have the strength |

Few people in this world have the personality to live and succeed as a Marine. Those that do have earned the right to be very proud.
I was in the Navy....on an Amphib ship that carried Marines. I can say honestly, that almost all those Marines were dumb hicks from Texas. But I can also say honestly, that if I was ever deep in sh it, I would want nobody else but those dumb Texas hicks coming to my aid.
I seriously am not trying to put down the Marines in any way. In fact, I am trying to praise them with the utmost respect they deserve.
Just from what I witnessed, most of them were immature cowboys in real life....but put them in the middle of something where they are Marines first and they will succeed better than anyone else.
I certainly wouldn't want the Navy coming to my rescue, (with the exception of the SEALS) as I was in the Navy. I gained much respect for the Marines in the time I spent with them. If you are in trouble and see U.S. Marines coming to help...well that is about the best sight I could imagine if it were me. |

Smallest branch in the United States's Department of Defense of the Armed Forces. A substantial small number to be exact....approx. 180,000 active and reserves put together. The other branches, the Army, Navy, and Chair Force have close to half a million...Marines only make up about a 1/5 of that. And Marines are very fanatical about...you know...being "Marines"! For all those that attempted and tried...we lived up to a slogan that was proven true..."Not everyone can be a Marine, it takes a special breed." |

Marines undergo grueling training and many people who attempt fail...Therefore, there are few Marines, but those who are remain proud to have had strength enough to become a Marine |

Because the training is a little more intense then U.S. Army or U.S. navy BCT. The ones that are enlisted as Marines...there are only a small amount of marines, but their proud to be a Marine! |

My immediate guess would be that its' not at all an easy job and one for which there may be many surprises. Were I younger and assuming that my government had more respect for my person and this were coupled with some form of a just cause/ legitimate and immediate threat I would gladly join in spite of any lingering doubts. WW 2 would be an excellent example. The last thing that I would be willing to sacrifice myself for would be some blindly incompetent leader merely because he succeeded in winning an election. |

I'm calling you out Papi_aka_Papi.
I don't think you're a Marine and especially not a Gunny. I just read your answer about "talking guns as a means of comm", lol that is not what talking guns is. Your answers just aren't what a Gunny would answer. Like when you make reference to POW camps in Iraq. No one says POW.
Plus, and this is the biggest red flag, I have never met a Gunnery Sergeant who constantly screws up the abbreviation for his own rank. |

Its hard to get into the Marines and what they do speaks for itself. They are selfless people who only think of others. |

Marines run 3 miles to complete boot camp, Tough Training ; -) Rangers run 12 miles, take a 30 second water break, pack on 60lb's and ruch 10 more miles *daily* :- )
Marines are *basic* shock troops, Rangers are *elite* shock troops. Marines are trained to be the first ones to go in to an all-out offensive, and Rangers are trained to sneak in, sneak out, and never be seen... :-)
Royal Marines are trained 4x better than U.S Marines. If you want a chllenge go Special Forces (Rangers are only Special OP, not Special Forces and our training alone makes marines look like girls-couts. Now imagine our Special Forces :-) 90% SF of all four branches remain in the Army
Go Special Forces, never settle being *basic* in any branch. |
