Why are there so many anti-war fanatics out there?

I always hear people saying "Bring home the troops", or other phrases refering to bringing home troops, and about how we shouldn't be in a war due to our casultie rate, etc. I personally beleive this is retarded. People who join the military, join because they want to serve their country. Part of a soldier's oath (the soldiers creed) states that a soldier will always stand ready to fight and kill enemies of the united states, or something along them lines. People do not join the army to sit around and play with themselves. People join the army to kill, serve their country, and do what they like to do. No one says stuff to stop people from doing their careers, so why should people have the right to say stop wars, and bring home the troops. Only the troops should have the right to say that, not non militaristic citizens.

If people did not want to fight wars they wouldnt join the Army, they'd join the Peace Corps. Let them do their jobs.

im not against people saying "Have peace, not war" or anything like that. I agree some wars are rediculous... but when we are in war dont say "bring home the troops" because that is just being disrespectful to them. They joined the army to serve their country so let them do it.

Overthrowing a government and subverting the peoples in order to exploit the country's mineral resources is NOT "serving the country", unless you only construe "country" to mean Halliburton..

You obviously have never worn the uniform. Very damn few join up to kill, and most would resent that statement. I think the part of the oath you've heard about is "defend the constitution of the united states against all enemies, foreign and domestic". Go enlist, then you'll have an idea about what you're trying to say.

That was a long winded way to say, shut up!

if you think people join the army to kill. then you truly are mistaken. They join for different reasons maybe their sense of duty, maybe for the college, maybe just to get out of the crap hole they live in. What ever their reason and i was in for ten years never met anyone there so they would get to kill people.

As for the anti war fanatics I think and of course this is my opinion. That they believe the more they speak out and talk against war maybe they can save some lives. How ever I believe that if we don't take this war to the enemy now on a battle ground of our choosing more lives will be loss later. On greater scales then we saw on 9/11.

Serving your country is the issue here. Some believe that the troops overseas are not serving their country, but serving the guy in the White House and his whims.

Others believe the troops are serving and protecting our country because we are 'fighting the terrorists over there so we don't have to fight them here."

Both are right and both are wrong, yet people will stand firm and argue about it until they're blue in the face.

In my opinion, our government has historically put our armed forces in danger for things far less important than protecting our soil, (Korea, Vietnam and now Iraq) so this is nothing new.

My husband did not join the Army to kill people, and the majority of the troops do want to come home because they feel the war they are fighting and dying for has no valid cause.

Lisa - You shouldn't join for the college money thinking we'd never go to war. That is a huge problem lately. People who join for college whining about going to war.

Hey Okieboy - how ya doing?

And I don't know why the anti war/Bush people are out in force tonight. Makes me sick.

The Tin Man
in response to the actual question, there aren't that many "anti-war fanatics" out there. When you use that term, I think of the turds who are protesting out in front of recruiting stations, burning Soldiers in effigy or out at the gate of Fort Lewis, calling Soldiers "douche bags."

There's actually very few, mostly loser college kids and old burned out hippies, they just get a lot of press coverage for doing over-the-top stunts like that.

A boy from my hometown said that he joined the military to help pay for college. He left a couple months ago and now he's dead.

Hey Okie Boy- I didn't join the military.I paid for my own college but when the government bribes young impressionable poor people and lies to them and tells them they will be stationed at home because they joined the National Guard, then sends them off to Iraq, then I have a problem.

And I am not your honey.

Yet another ranting, war loving, family value rightie question.

The people of the United States voiced their opinions when they voted during the last election. The soldiers in the armed services work for the government and the people of the United States. The president and other lawmakers represent the people of the United States and right now the people would not vote for President Bush if they could. The accomplishments that we have made during this war have reached their peak. There is nothing else we can do as an American society that will help them. Their culture is very different from ours and our occupation there will not change their senseless violence or change their culture. The American citizens are currently paying for a war that they don't want by clearly voting to change directions in the policy on Iraq. If we don't have a voice as American citizens, then our country is slowly becoming a dictatorship. We are not the peace keepers of the world, just the United States. Imagine what the money spent in Iraq thus far could have done for us domestically. I am not against the war, just the reasons. By the way, I am a soldier.

You make a valid point, Chris. And that point is: This war is supported by imbecils like Chris.

The job of the military is to protect the US. It is not their job to sit in the middle of a civil war, taking fire from all sides. Nor is "killing" their job, as you seem to suggest. What the US is doing in Iraq right now is not making us any safer. Therefore, they are not doing their jobs effectively.

because democrats hate bush they need something to bash him for and wut is the biggest issue that they can bash him on WAR

Why are there so many pro-war fanatics out there? Some of the stuff I read on here makes me sick...some of these people should just spend an hour looking at pictures of children victimized by Americas weapons of mass destruction.

WHAT IF THEY HAD A WAR AND NOBODY CAME TO FIGHT?

Killing is IMMORAL...supporting killing is IMMORAL...WAKE UP.

Just wanted to address one of your additional detail comments, you write:

"All im saying is if we do go to war no1 but the troops themself should have the right to say "Bring home the troops"

WRONG!!!! The troops have no say at when and where they go. They do as ordered and when the orders are against the national interest, it is the civic duty of Americans to hold tour politicians responsible. In this country, the military is subject to the civil population not the other way around.

it like someone saying the earth is flat, the stupidity and incompetence of this looking for WMD is amazing.
the rewriting of history is breath taking in its audacity. There were no terrorists form Bin Laden when Saddam was in charge, not because he was a Good guy but because they wanted to over throw him too

the Iraqis have less , power water and jobs because of America

Bush has advanced the cause off Iran far better than they could

Because they are left wing loony toons.

Once again, the USA is NOT! a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic!

I wasn't even going to answer this until I saw Lisa's stupid answer, if your going to join the military honey, there is an expectation you may end up fighting for ones country, that's reality. The military just isn't some kind of free ride to college. Although I'm absolutely sure you'd like to think that's all its for, its not, capische?
