Why are they letting ex-felons into the military?

C-town Terry
If someone wants to sign up to serve our great nation then let them! They are more brave than I am! Why should you have to have a clean record to fight for the safety and security of your country? It's a better option than letting them sit in a jail cell at the taxpayers expense or, more often than not, go back home and get on wellfare (also at the taxpayers...MY...expense). Freedom isn't free and neither is paying for the "less fortunate". I say let them make something of themselves!

Why are they letting you ask questions?

Why don't you provide the source for this question and then I might consider answering it. When I first joined, anyone with a conviction pending had the choice of military service or jail time. I prefer not to answer indept on this until I see the source of your question. The last I knew, a convicted felon had no rights and was not allowed to serve in the United States Military. As to the Senate running the Military, someone had better read their government a little closer. The President is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and the Secretary of Defense, with the various Military Branch Secretaries under him make the decisions based on recommendations made by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The House and Senate become involved only when dealing with appropriations for the Military and deciding on whether to wage war, which must be approved by the House of Representatives.

Who says they are letting ex felons in the military?

sjsosullivan
Maybe because those felons were truthful in their application? That IS why they ask all of those questions, by the way. And, another thing: Not all felonies are the same. Try elaborating about the felonies these people committed, then did their time for, before playing Henny Penny.

TrainerMan
Because the Senate is in charge of the armed forces, and the Senate is FULL of ex-felons.

i guess they are getting hard up for people to volenteer now so they take what they can get. you know rummie said you go to war with what you got not what you wish you had.

conundrum_dragon
because all the people with out criminal records either don't want to join or already have...either that or they are getting a choice now. Jail or service.

tom l
Well if they are an "EX-felon" that means that their criminal record has been expunged and sealed. So they are then no more a felon than you or I.

cowboy4lifexxxsangel
they are not allowing felons show prove because the military dont have any prove of the felony

The military is in need of more people and letting ex-felons in causes less of a stir then bringing back the draft.

mo jo 66
because of bush service men and woman are going 2 and 3 more times than their suppose to. thats why felons are going in the milatary so the others get a 6 week pass
