Why are we involved in war about religion ?

We are not in the war for religion, only the terrorists are. We are in this war to help make sure that America does not have a repeat of 9/11.

People saying that the war is over oil are just out to make the Administration look bad. Though oil can be an advantage, it is also not the reason that we are at war.

Our troops are fighting for our freedoms and safety. Also, our oil reserves are no secret, but they are reserves. Which is why we are not using them now, they are for a time of crisis, not a time when gas prices get a little high.

Also, look at the geopolitical aspect. The only land that separates Iran (who supports terrorists) and Syria (a major terrorist state) is... you guessed it, IRAQ! Us being there and setting up a Democracy keeps the two separated and allows us to have military bases in between them as well, giving us a close watch and a quick path of attack when needed (this is especially important considering Iran's nuclear capabilities). Not only does this allow us to help prevent a nuclear war by Iran (because we all know diplomacy never works with dictators), it quite possibly has also been the key factor that has prevented another 9/11 from reoccurring in America.

We continue to keep the terrorists unorganized.

It may look like a war on religion but because a few fanatics would like nothing better to do then chop off your head and destroy all infidels in the name of religion we have to take the fight to them. Remember Sept 11. 3000 lost their live in NY. They made the first strike and we will finish it. And sure there is lots of oil over there and we need it to keep flowing our way unless you want to freeze in the dark and walk to the grocery store. Oh yea, with out oil, the grocery store would not have anything to buy. I guess you liberals will starve.

The American Government did not pass a new amendment to separate church & state. I don't believe that this particular war is about "religion" per se. But, during the past 20 or so years there has indeed been an uprising in fundamentalism in both Islam & American Christianity.

the reason why our troops are overseas in 140F weather and dodging mortar attacks on a daily basis is because the people in power are pencil pushers that don't know right from wrong. we have no business being there - oil, religion or otherwise - and ever single death is an unnecessary one. live and let live, you know what i mean?

FYI: I don't read articles about the war on the Internet that often, so I won't have any links, but I am informed about this.

We have large oil reserves in Alaska so the question would be, "Why can't we get the oil?" The answer: Democrats are too concerned about the environment as well as environmentalists. We could supply our own oil for a time, but they just won't let us.

America has good relations with Canada and they have massive oil reserves that will be ready in about 10 years I think. I watched a show about this and have read about it, but they have to remove the dirt from the oil to make the oil useful.

So, why would we be in a war to get oil?

Democrats say we're in a war for oil to make President George W. Bush look like some fraud who's trying to steal from other countries. Democrats have a vendetta against George W. Bush and they hate him because he's accomplishing his agenda dispite their acts to try and get him off the track.

President George W. Bush is Christian and the first time he was in the running to become President of the U.S., he said he really didn't care if he got elected; it just didn't matter to him. The only reason he ran for election for a second term is because he felt that was what God was calling him to do. There was an interview with him in part dealing with this subject.

Example:
Christians are suppose to follow God; we're not supposed to be silent Christians and come across as being non-christian around people we want to stay friends with because it is in some way offensive.

In this same way, President Bush doesn't care about his ratings and what the people of America think of him. He does what he thinks is right.

Would a true Christian who believes in God, obeys God, and ask for forgiveness from God really try to deceive people in this way?

I don't think so.

Separating church and state are not our beliefs. They're the way the government chooses to not offend people, but they offend people in many other ways.

The Constitution was written to uphold liberty and justice. The government made this threat that if you don't enforce the law of wearing seat belts, you aren't going to get any support from the government for your state this year. The government can be manipulative, but this war was started for a genuine purpose.

When President George W. Bush said we were going to war, how many people were behind him? I can tell you many more Democrats as well as Republicans than there are now.

The reason you believe and are apt to believe this way is because the majority of the media is liberal. The majority of citizens in the U.S. are liberal, because they don't know what political party to join or don't care. There are more Democrats than Republicans, but more Republicans than Democrats usually vote in the elections.

Weapons of Mass Destruction:
When we were looking for weapons of mass destruction when it was capitalized on the Liberal Media that we didn't find any, we really didn't. Later on, we did find weapons of mass destruction, therefore the Liberal Media didn't capitalize on this because it would lead to their downfall and people would view them as an unreliable source and listen to what Republicans have to say more.

We're fighting this war not over oil, but over terrorism. It's called The War on Terrorism. George W. Bush has prevented two more attacks on the U.S. post September 11th, so Homeland Security is doing their part. I can't speak for decreasing terrorism in other countries, but America has a significant role in this role and we've gained allies.

Republican radio stations where you can call in and clarify misunderstandings, etc. They'll give you a whole new perspective on things and tell you why certain things happen?

FYI: The separation of church and state means you can have religious freedom in America. It has nothing to do with war. Wars that America fight can be fought over religion for example getting England and America to be separated was fought over religion and was called the Revolutionary War. The war we're fighting now isn't over religion, but the War on Terror is against all terrorists, and the majority of terrorists are Muslim which is why some people would call this war a religious one. I don't view it as a religious war because all terrorists aren't Muslim.

This war was against an evil dictator who raped, pillaged and plundered his neighbors. Now the war is against his minions in the region who wish to prevent the United States from stabilizing Iraq. We aren't killing innocent Islamists while they are planting roses in their gardens and playing with puppies. We are killing evil Islamists who cut peoples heads off, rape, torture, and kill innocent people in the name of their whacked-out and flawed religion. This war isn't over oil; but, it would be nice if we could take a few of their fields so I can drive my 4x4 Chevy for cheaper. All those poop butt whiny anti war liberals would be happy to know that those extremists would love to cut your head off even though you are anti American and support them. They don't care. Go read a book concerning separation of Church and State, that wasn't an Amendment.

stereotypes on both ends of the debate are so appalling! One wonder whether they go to school! Every party involved in war projects itself as the nice guy... even while neither is... but one must side with the oppressed in case of any aggression. Fanaticism and terrorism are a phenomenon (and not some individual cases) which has a history and can be traced right up to colonialism. We create conditions where people have high propensity to become terrorists... then we choose to bomb them when it suites our ends and we bomb everyone whether it be child or a woman as long as it is not one of ours.

It is ironical in present times with so much information and access available we prefer to live by medieval notions of other people. It is a shame that this is true of the people who inhabit the civilized world! There is absolutely no sharing despite the possiblities of knowing other cultural groups over the net or otherwise and hate is all we can spew.

First of all, we didn't pass a new amendment to the constitution. Secondly no where in the constitution does it say there is a literal seperation of church and state. It says that, basically, the govt will not establish a state religion, like the Church of England.
We fight and die because if it isn't done the pin headed liberals will allow us to be trampled under so they can impose their will on everyone.
Pick up a history book, pick up a civics book and begin studing the news from many sources.

as a military personnel, I feel that the war IS over oil. This war can be compared to Vietnam, as to where it is unwinnable, but the reason we're fighting is a lot different. the news will tell you that we are defending and liberating Iraq and it counterparts, but, its all about Bush's greed.

it may seem like it is a war on religion, but only on the terrorist side. their teachings as muslim in the quran is to kill all the non-believers. all the wars we are in are against muslim fanatics. to us its not a war on religion but theirs is. they are taught to kill to be blessed by allah.
