Most people I have talked to that have actually been to the middle east have on average said that people were for the most part grateful for their help. So with that in mind it looks like we are in countries where people want our help, yes there are people who don't want us there, but most of them are american anyways

Because they are none of our concern! Whereas in Iraq and Afghanistan we are there to eliminate terror factions and extremists.
Many people in Iraq and Afghanistan do want the help of the ISF forces, as they protect electricity and dams, also brutal rule from the Taliban is harsh on the local people and they want them gone.

Because its polticians who make decisions like that not soldiers! Polticians be it US or UK or where ever decide where to deploy their troops all the generals say is "yes mr president, 10,000, troops to bonga bonga land."
