We aren't at war. The war was over weeks after it began. We are occupying a country and helping them to build a government. The reason it is so hard to fight the enemy is because they look just like civilians. If they were a formed military we would wipe them out within weeks. Plus the laws and politics of war prevent us from getting some of the problems done. The propoganda the media uses makes the U.S seem like we aren't getting anywhere in Iraq.

The American Army is designed for a large scale conflict like Soviet Russia or China. We have the largest airforce in the world. The second largest belongs to the US Navy.

Here's a scenario for you:
It's half time, and the New England Patriots are losing to the Colts by 14 points. Are you going to call your buddy and ask him why the Pat's can't win a single game or score a touchdown these days? Hell no, you're gonna sit and watch the game!
My point is, for you to assume that we can't win is bogus. The situation in Iraq is far more complicated than anyone who hasn't been there can ever know. This is, and always has been, a long term committment. If the liberals in Washington had their way, we would pull out without finishing the job, and then MAYBE you could say we lost. I would still argue that we have won every MILITARY battle we have engaged in recent history.
Regardless, hang in there and don't consider the battle lost yet. We are making a lot of progress, and hopefully the media will share some of it with the public one day.

Like my history teacher said, "It is easy to win a war, but harder to maintain the area." The US had won the war, we can leave as it is, but it would be a hot spot for terrorist to occupy.

The reason why it is hard to successfully maintain this area is because of the gurreilla warfare. Enemies in that area use hit and run tactics in civilians clothes. The enemy is not inferior, they cleverly use bombs to trick our troops.( IED's and other other improvise explosive.)
They know the area very well.
The United States wants to leave Iraq or Afghanastan where it can support itself efficently without help and does not poses a threat to us.

We cannot use full force in this area because the population will not support our cause in their region and more attacks will come.

In other things, attack on China or North Korean will be harder for us, since they have similiar technology like us. We would probably win, but it would take great stragety and time.

Our enemy is by no means "inferior." These people are highly educated in electronics, explosives, marksmanship, and many other combat related skills. Not only are they well trained but they are motivated by their beliefs as are we. In addition, we are hindered in doing our job by UN sanctions and rules of engagement. We are expected to fight with a moral code of ethics and rules. Our enemy doesnt abide by the same rules and is very unpredictable because of it. Should we ever fight against a bigger enemy such as an actual trained army we would more than likely do better because they have similar training.

The politicians running things do not know the difference between a political objective and a military one. The function of the military is kill people and destroy property. Anything beyond that is the province of the civilian government. Our troops went with the clear objective of deposing Saddam, that they did in short order with a minimum of trouble. Then we kept them over there with the apparent goal of making everybody like us. You can't make people like you by killing them and destroying their property, so we have an open ended no-win scenario. This not the fault, in any way, of our troops, they have done all we could ask and more. It's the fault of civilians in office with no military training or experience ignoring the experts from day one. This is the same thing we tried in Viet Nam and that the Soviets tried in Afghanistan, it didn't work then, it won't work now. Once again those ignoring the mistakes of the past are repeating them.

No other Army in the world could ever take on the U.S. in a straight forward battle. They have to use chicken tactics such as the IEDS.

Here's some recent ones I can think of off the top of my head:
-Second Persian Gulf War (1991)
-Bosnia
-Panama (more of just a quick invasion, and taking out of Manuel Noriega)
-lets not forget how Iraq's formal military was completly dismantled and destroyed within a week at the beginning of the current Iraq/U.S. war......and we captured Saddam. THAT war was easily won, now we're trying to win the aftermath battles, and who knows how that will turn out. It could be a while!

Because a long time ago, the govt started listening to the liberals and the commies. next thing you knew, the media was able to bad mouth the military, no mater how good their intentions were. this allowed liberals to emasculate the american public and teach children that guns and violence are wrong. they were taught that anything that made a man a man was wrong. things like tolerance and 'open-mindedness' eliminated american resolve. then celebrities were allowed to broadcast thier political opinions to the public instead of simply doing thier job and shutting thier mouths like the rest of the country. This made hating the military and detesting your country 'fasionable'. So now America has a pansy, incompetant govt, a military with its hands tied, and a public that hates its own country and what it stands for. The best thing about that? When the radical islamists come over here, they will kill both right and left wingers alike. Thats right liberals, no matter how much of a good communist you are, they still see you as the enemy and will kill you just as readily as anyone else.
