Why can't I tell my parents that I want to join the Marine Corps?!!?!?

I have researched the military for months and know all of the benefits and how it works and what I'd like to do and everything else. I know 100% that I am going to be in the military, and I'm joining right after high school.
I haven't talked to my parents about this at all yet and as far as they know I'm still planning to go to college in a couple years.
Thing is, I cant get myself to tell them I want to do it!!!!!!!! And I can't figure out why!!!!! In my head, there are so many benefits and not even anything bad that could come from me telling them.. they would even be proud of me after I talked to them about it and I want that. I honestly can't figure out why every time I am about to bring it up I just cant....
what the hell??

I was the same exact way. Although my parents disapproved of the military they much rather see me stay home and go to college. You just gotta stop thinking about telling them and just go tell 'em. That's what the problem is, your just thinking about it too much. Worked for me. |

Are you 18? You don't need their approval if you are. Sometimes you have to do what is best for you. If you are mature enough to be a Marine, sign up, tell them what you are going to do with your life and go for it. |

Finish a 2 year degree. You will have more opportunities then just right out of high school |

Go to College first! On average you can make $20,000 more by going to college and doing ROTC at the same time, but FIRST. If you do it that way and actually graduate college and ROTC you're basically guaranteed commissioning as an officer after college. Smarter thing to do, truly. |
