Why can't we just bomb the crap out of the pirates now, kill the captain (worth to send a strong message)?

Why not send electro-magnetic pulses from beneath the water so it will temporarily paralyze everyone inside and then we can get the captain, if they can emit through the boat's anterior. Or, we can emit an odorless/colorless gas that can knock out everyone on the small boat. I don't know, just suggestions.

I don't know how Stonehud.. made it to a USAF Captain. He probably barely passed by his attitude.

Do us a favor. Don't join the Military or join Law Enforcement. You have a temper and one must show resolve and calm in emergencies. This is real life not some movie. Diplomacy will win out at the end of the day. I just hope you don't go around telling people what you just asked on this forum. People are laughing at you not with or agreeing with you. Taco Bell, I agreed with you. Why not bomb everything including the captain. We did that in Vietnam, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, etc too. We killed many servicemen to kill our enemies in these countries too.

Good point. BUT, one thing. One American dies and America mourns. 1 million pirates are killed, NOBODY will mourn and guess what?. Tomorrow, another million will replace them to be back on time and not waste time to mourn. If the enemy is heartless, you should be heartless too.

If you have ever followed US response to hostage situations you would realize that altho we will negotiate,paying ransoms or giving into demands are NOT done......

It's in the hands of the US military now...and what they are doing is waiting it out.....it takes time and is frustrating but they want 1) that american captain released alive and unharmed and 2) to take the pirates into their custody for prosecution.

These pirates number 4..they have very little fuel left, no water, no food, the ONLY thing keeping them from being blown out of the water by US navy presence is the captain being alive....and they know it.
If they kill the captain or he dies on them, they are 'toast' and they know it so.....
..all they are doing is stalling the inevitable.....and they know it.

Believe me, with the FBI hostage negotiators and the US naval presence, I doubt if this sends the message that the pirates will get any of their demands met....
..and if this can be resolved without a tragedy, and the pirates being taken into custody, then why so blood thirsty.

It is NOT worth the life of an American however....
if that American dies while in the hands of those pirates......then I see no reason why they shouldn't be blown sky high.

Edit: some of us have been watching too many sci-fi movies....'pulses'? lol.....knock out gas?
