Because women aren't built for war. They are not able to adhere to the standards required for an infantry position. It is not just bias, there have been studies conducted, and research that has driven these decisions. Most women are not capable of building the sheer body mass it takes to... let's say... drag a 200lb fallen comrade out of harm's way, while he's wearing a 40lb IBA, kevlar, 80lb ruck, ACUs, boots, and a full combat load of ammo.
Sure, some women can do it. They're the MPs, combat medics, and other front-line units that are not traditionally thought of as front-line. However, combat arms is a no-go. |

Women can not hold a combat MOS for many reasons. I am not getting into the reasons.
The military has an objective/mission to accomplish. That is not to be PC 24/7. The mission needs to be done, and the military should not cater to "the equal rights ideal". The mission needs to be done. Too many people think equal female rights should apply EVERYWHERE. Men are physically superior to women, especially in certain combative positions. Equal rights for women has no place in combat fields. People who want women in combat, have never been to combat. |

Hygiene, physical and mental strength are the reasons. If you are on the front lines you might go months without any sanitary conditions or showers. That can cause problems for women during that certain time of the month.
Physically women are not built to carry the same amount that men are required to carry. There have been studies done to this effect. The same thing that allows a woman's hips force a child through them, doesn't allow for heavy loads for a long period of time.
Mentally woman are more emotional than men and can't cope with combat stress as well. On the other side, men don't like to see women get hurt or killed in combat and can drive them crazy as well. This was proved during the Israeli-Egypt war.
Prettypoison, 55 pound pack for 2 hours and a whole 6 miles gee wilikers. I guess thats comparable to 24 miles in 5 hours with 110 pound ruck. |

LOL...oldmarine! Yes, it is the law that women aren't allowed into "combat arms" jobs in the military, and no it isn't going to change anytime soon.
That is not to say that women don't have any opportunity to engage in some types of combat (i.e. pilots, MPs, etc). It is only a small handful of MOSs that women are excluded from. |

WOW WOW WOW 55lbs in 2 hours WOW!!!! I recently returned from Iraq as a 11B INFANTRY and on average we are humping 75 to 85 lbs for 6 hours min walking all over the place. I have seen men that are studs fall out with that when the temp was in the 100s so no matter what your arguement is I have seen with my own eyes what the facts are. But nothing really matters with that because if you think about it every other MOS is just support for the INFANTRY!!! Its funny how there is always a infantrymen that can do a support job but support guys cant do ours. This girl power thing is getting old really old: example I am still hearing about Jessica Lynch and how she is a here well NEWS FLASH last time i checked its not a good thing to be a POW because you quit!!!!!!! |

Women cannot carry their own weight, literally. The soldiers carry anywhere from 80-130 pounds of gear on their backs and run with it. Go ahead and try that in 120 degree heat. |

Where is the front line exactly? |

Because if we were in combat together my natural instinct would be to protect you instead of focusing on the mission or my own safety. |

None of the men would want you there. I've seen how woman react to little things such as a mortar attack one of the few times I actually visited a FOB. There's no way they could handle the stress of an actual firefight.
**** all you ******* that give me a thumbs down. You're probably all a bunch of stuck up liberal ******* who never even served. How the **** would you know what it's like? |

Women do not hold Combat Arms MOS's however, they do go to where the battle is. There are Female Combat Medics and Truck Drivers, Fuelers, Lots of Fermales go to where the support is needed. Chaplain Assistance, Radio Personal, many other Jobs bring them to the battle. |

3 main reasons.
1 - Its the law!
2- They are physically weaker than men!
3- It weakens the entire military structure.
It demoralizes the men watching women die, they can't hold their own weight and drag down those that are with them and how many women do you think will survive not being raped repeatedly in a war atmosphere... by the enemy and the side they're fighting on would both rape the hell out of them.
Now I ask you Miss Female... how are you going to stop these men from raping you? With your She-ra attitude? Better think again! |

the law is a major part of it but its so much more than that,(im atheist so don't say im bias) its popular christian belief that women should have no part of direct combat, and see as this country was "founded on christian beliefs" they try to stay with popular vote more than the right thing to do. they have to do what is right for the group as a whole and sometimes ignore the individual. |

One, it is prohibited by military law to be actually put on "the front line."
Two, (this is more of an idea than anything else, but makes sense to some) when on the front line, when bullets are flying and things are exploding and people have a good possibility of getting seriously injured, if there are men and women alongside each other, a lot of men have the tendency to be protective of women and if a woman is hurt, then the man is likely to drop what he is doing and try and help the woman. Of course this can get more people hurt or killed.
I'm not saying that women can't hold their own or that men are controlling.
Women can't technically be put in the front, but a lot of them do end up where the action is happening. It is not just the Army, that's in every branch. |

There are many reasons...many have to do with
just being a Female...
That said...There was a Female MP Sgt that
earned the Silver Star for her actions in Combat
saving a Convoy she was protecting...
Can just hear the Terrorist's..
Hey this ain't fair... American Women are
not supposed to be in Combat !!!!
She took out about 75 of them...
They really shouldn't have Pissed her Off...LMAO
Outstanding Job... |

actaully I carried 55 pounds for 2 hours for six miles, was sick for 2 days with a migraine, but hey I did it. Women can get raped if captured and raped both ways if you knwo what I mean and they cannot guarantee women will have proper santitation when women are on the front lines when that time of the month comes try changing a pad in a port-o-pot or out in t he middle of nowhere. Yuck! Besides alot of guys are coming back and leaving their wives for a women in their unit (and some wives are divorcing hubby to) that they served with. |

cuz they are women, thats just how biased the military still is.. I have seen some chicks that could whip a mans ***, so I am sure they would hold their own in combat.. they think of them simply as I said, A woman... =/ |
