Americans and Germans were trained diffrently and came from diffrent goverments. Think about hou Nazi Germany was Compared to deomcratic America. Also American units had less training than their German enemies.The Germans were preparing fpr war the U.S wasnt anticipting war. |

The medical care for American military is more extensive and we care about our people. The German did have cases of people who suffered shellshock, however, it was not reported that way. |

WW ONE they called it "shell shock" because they thought it was caused by shells going off around them.
WW TWO they called it "battle fatigue" because they thought it was caused by being overly tired from fighting too much.
George Patton called it "cowardice" and was relived of command for slapping a solder suffering from it.
Now we call it Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
