He ran into the same thing Napolean did: General Winter. The Russians kept drawing them further and further into Russia. When winter hit, they died. No supplies or reinforcements got through. The Russians thrived on it and the Germans died. |

He refused to learn the lessons of History. Just as Napoleon failed, so did Nazi Germany. He also did not recon upon the incomparable resolve and strength of the American mindset at the time, hence the term "The Greatest Generation".
Today Americans only want the next Ipod or Nintendo Wii, and will rarely fight for anything longer than the length of one season of "The OC", and of course radical Islam is watching. |

he fought a war on two fronts |

Because he attacked Russia in the dead of winter. His troops were ill equipped for winter combat. While Russia lost 27 million, and Hitler only lost 5 million, it was a moral victory for Joseph Stalin. |

because he failed to consider the russian winter
and the inhabitants of Russia, were so determined to stop hitler, that they burned all of their supplies so hitler's armies would starve. |

If it hadn't been for winter he may damn well have pulled it off. Basically, he was greedy. |

Stupidity.
He knew not to have a war on 2 fronts at the same time.
But when the invasion of Britain stalled, he turned his attention to Russia. The German troops got to the outskirts of the capital - but winter hit just then. The length of the German supply lines, the weather - and Russian troops set fire to the city as they withdrew - meant there was nothing left in the city for the Germans to use.
The German General asked Hitler for permission to return to Germany. Hitler said NO - fight it out to the last man. |

alot of reasons but mainly the weather |

Honestly? Because he didn't really want to. To conquer means you have to occupy. To occupy means over centuries you live among them and engraft them to yourself. Can you see his policies going that way? Doubtful. He really didn't like those guys. But, his observations were fairly accurate. Look at Stalin's reaction upon being invaded. |

1) he spread his army too thin, Russia is the largest country in the world in terms of land area
2) mother nature: the evry harsh winter weather
Napoleon fell into the same trap when figthing with Russia |

Shouldnt have invaded it. Harsh winters and havent got the total grip on Britian yet. This was destined to be his downfall. |

Hitler had the best army in the world and he knew it his men were dedicated and well trained, fed, and supplied, the polish people who were under Russian rule fought with Germany so did the checks, and the Russian people as they were treated a lot better by the Germans than the soviets, the Russian army burned all of their supplies that Hitler had planned on taking , the Russians starved their own people to death to prevent Hitler from getting any supplies, Hitler , didn't think even the Russians could be cruel enough to starve their own he was wrong, they did, and The German army was caught in a bitter winter without proper clothing or food or fuel, Germany was a small country about the size of Texas, yet they damned near conquered the whole of Europe,it all ended with one miscalculation, contrary to what we have been told by our Zionist news media T,V, etc Hitler was a brilliant man, how else could he accomplish so much ? he was fighting at least 75%of the world, |

Winter. That winter in the Ukraine was early and harsh.
Supply Lines/destruction of land by retreating Russians. That made it difficult to get as much supplies as needed and couldn't forage as they did in France, Poland, etc.
Number of Troops. Toss up...USSR had the numbers but Germany had the training. But they weren't really trained to fight in winter.
War on two fronts, wasn't as important, because it was the timing of it. If Hitler had swarmed west and secured it, bombed the crap out of England then offered a peace treaty, Germany may have had a one front war. Especially if they hadn't provoked America. |

He became arrogant and believed he could take on all comers. He was outwitted on the western front and outmatched on the eastern front. |

The same reason Napoleon failed his supply lines were drawn out and the Russian winter |

he ran out of people. germany was pretty small and had just been whupped in ww1. so deciding to wage a war on two fronts was pretty optimistic. |

2 fronts, spread thin, ran out of men, the harsh winter, lack of supplies...mosty an enourmous amount of Stupid.. |

Russia was too powerful, at that time they had their greatest leader Stalin, therefore their military became more modernized and much more powerful. Along with the winter.
Germany didn't stand a chance. If Hitler left Russia alone, he would've succeeded, however he made a huge mistake and attacked the country since he needed the oil. |

He thought he would be done by spring. The Russians held him off till winter. His troops were not prepared. God bless the Russians |
