They want to be there! There are people joining everyday.

most of the soldiers i know believe in their country and want to protect it, but with 2 and 3 deployments to Iraq most understand that we can't fix the problems with military might and most are simply tired of war but they go because they are told and they took an oath to our country and they are honorable men and women who will fulfill their promises. |

I know plenty of people who want to serve the country and fight for it in the military. Many whom also object to the war. |

just another thing they use to try and talk sh** about their own country. They talk crap and then say that is Patriotism. It has me lost for words. It is like letting your mom know how much you love her by saying, "I hate you". |

That is an extremely simplistic viewpoint. |

You can't speak for everyone else though either. Some want to be there, some don't. |

It makes people feel better about their personal opinions by suggesting that they are not the only ones who think it. Not only that, but when the person whose opinions they claim to be representing isn't present (because, say, they're stationed in Iraq!), there's no one to dispute the claim. Whether or not "the kids" want to be in Iraq or not is a question best left to "the kids" themselves; not to someone who claims to represent them from the comforts of their mostly white middle-class home. |

What you say goes against common sense. They want to serve their country. I agree with that. But to believe that someone would want to be in an alien environment, where everyone looks like the enemy and the conditions have only worsened over the last two years. No! That goes against my common sense. Do you actually believe that the guys who stormed the beaches at Normandy wanted to be there? That's irrational thought. |

No kidding.....we (people in the Army)...have been saying this since day 1 of the war. You only hear about the few sniveling malingerers on tv......
@ Stupid Marxist----- DAMN RIGHT !!! |

You are very correct. I love that dumbass attitude of your first poster. They/she doesn't realize that so many of us have already joined the military and most of us are conservatives. They are just too cowardly to join themselves. |

Because the libs want you to believe than an 18-year-old man is too young to make such an important decision...nevermind the fact that they also believe a 14-year-old girl is mature enough to decide to have an abortion without parental involvement! |

If you read, most "kids" that join the military are from poor neighborhoods. They are trying to find a way out of their current situation. I have talked with Iraqi war veterans in person and on this board that don't agree with what we are doing in Iraq. I have been told by more than one that we are not wanted by the general population there. How many soldiers that have been to Iraq have you talked to? Not that some don't want to be there, I am sure some sighned up just to go. But if your reasoning is that you heard a general campaign for staying in Iraq that just isn't valid. The generals say what they are told to say by the current admin until they are no longer with the military. You can't generalize the entire army saying they want to be half way across the world from their families fighting for people who don't even support their presence. |

Because people hate Bush and regardless of what they say they want Bush to lose this war. They just don't realize what losing this war will do! |

Really? And how many of them have you talked to recently? How many of them do you know personally? This is just another uninformed liberal talking out ....because she doesn't have a clue. You don't support the troops, like most liberals, and finally one of you admits it. The were thousand of patriotic men who signed up the day after we were attacked at Pearl Harbor because they believed, as these brave men and women who fight in Iraq today, that it was their duty to fight for their country and protect their families from further attack. Yet, not one of them enjoyed not knowing if that moment was their last and they would never see their loved ones again. Your an idiot and a fool if you think anyone wants to be away from the people they love to be killed or maimed at any moment. And, yes, my uncle died in that war. |

Because they want you to believe that legal adults, old enough to make decisions for themselves and sign contracts that are legally binding, did not think their decision thru. They are also incapable of believing that anyone would do something that they are too cowardly to do themselves. They also try to use the twisted logic on the informed by stating,"They only joined up for the education benefits." Yeah, right. Those "benefits" are not enough to make any person decide to serve their country. |
