Because they were betting that Barry wouldn't let the Navy fight back.
And I think they were right, too. Guarantee this was the on-site commander's decision.
No way Barry would have fought if he could have begged the pirates for forgiveness and given them all they wanted. |

Arrogence. Plus they got away with what they are doing for quite a while without any major oposition |

Our Military is the best in the world. I am sure the far left human rights organizations will try to get the USA to pay for the funerals of the pirates that were killed. |

Based upon the condition of their country I have seen no evidence from the Somalis that the word "think" has a place in their vocabulary or in their heads. |

Regarding "what they Navy was doing when the Maersk Alabama was attacked," we were patrolling 7.5 million square miles with 20 plus ships (5th Fleet). That's roughly 28 Texas-sized chunks. You can't track small boats with radar either, it's all done by eyeball. Imagine patrolling an area that size with that many ships, where a lookout with perfect vision can maybe see 40-50 miles on a perfect day with perfect visibility (the usual is more like 20 miles).
In addition, you have to actually CATCH the pirate ships in the act. You can't just pull over the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dhows and small craft and inspect all of them.
Bottom line - it's impossible to stop pirates when they attack civilians. |

Because, like the rest of that bread, they are slathering savages without a Brain cell between them. They only happen to look like men, there really dumb animals fit for slaughter. I hope that The USN left their bodies floating in the ocean. The US should send in the USAF to Napalm their coastal villages.

They still do, all they have done is lose 4 rag tag followers, They have
already moved operations to none US war ship patrolled areas, and will
move forward like nothing ever happened. |

They didn't. They took on a civilian container ship and the captain volunteered himself as a hostage for ransom in order to spare his crew. The USN came in a day or so afterwards.
A better question would be where were the Navy when the ship was being attacked? This is what you get when you take your eye off the ball. The navy has spent the last 5 years playing delivery boy to Iraq and Afghanistan when it should have been protecting US shipping.
When the cat's away the mouse will play, and that's exactly what all of the mice have been doing while Washington's eye has been turned by the so called War on Terror. |
