Iraq: US military announces 4 more soldier deaths
The Associated Press
Published: August 5, 2007
BAGHDAD: Four U.S. soldiers were killed in separate attacks in and around Baghdad, the military said Sunday.
Two soldiers died of wounds suffered during fighting on Sunday in the capital, the American military said in a statement.
A soldier also died and two were wounded Saturday during combat operations in western Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement.
Another died of wounds suffered when a roadside bomb detonated near a U.S. vehicle the same day, during combat near Baghdad. It looks as if this will end up being another Vietnam. Additional Details How come there is no outrage in the United States over the killing of our fine troops? In my town (Near a military base) no one even talks about the deaths. (Note: We are near Selfridge ANG Base)

Four more of our precious youth are dieing for an ill-conceived cause because the “SURGE” is obviously not working, and merely causing a surge of death on our side. This is the plain, simple, and regrettable truth. Only the most dimwitted Neocon could think that our increased presence in a country, hell bent on seeing us leave, would lead to a DECREASE in fatalities. All we are providing is more target practice for an increasingly strident insurgency.
As far as were the outrage is, I am a bit baffled about that myself. The only thing I can attribute the silence and apathy to, is that only a small percentage of Americans actually keep up with national and international news religiously. Most concern themselves with their local news and weather, and therefore don’t concern themselves with all the ugliness that has engulfed this war.
It’s the typical American mindset. If they don’t like the way things look, they either ignore the situation, or reinvent it in more palatable terms. Being obese is termed being big boned. A kid who fails academically is a child who has “special needs” or is “gifted in other ways”. A war that is going painfully wrong, with a mounting death toll, is compared to a greater tragedy like Vietnam, which had a higher death rate, so as to make our current rate of death in Iraq look paltry in comparison. In America you are free to do many things. Unfortunately, the act of deluding oneself seems to be the freedom we exercise the most. |

Where was your outrage when 9,555 active duty military personnel died between 1980 and 1984? No one was even shooting at us then. |

Military men and women know what their getting into.
I don't like the war any more than anyone else, but the simple fact is that we are in a war, and there will be casualties on both sides. We are in a war, and we cannot just withdraw.
That would only make us appear weak, and provoke, and embolden our enemies. However you can take comfort in knowing that on January 20, 2009 we will no longer be burdened by having a retard as our president.
You should also know that even though we lost in Vietnam that war broke the back of communism.
With any luck this one will break the back of terrorism. |

i am enraged that even one american died due to those fools who hate God, Christ, Isreal, America, democracy... etc. We should have closed our embassies and ordered all our people out of there long ago and just nuked every home town of every 9/11 terrorist and bagdad and tehran and then ordered them to clean up thier act.. the only way to defeat terrorism is to be so infinitly more terrible that the terrorist that he pees his panties at the thought of us! |

Hey how about the Al-Qaeda terrorist mastermind who was killed and the other 80 insurgents who were captured? Instead of always focusing on the negative, how about we take just one second to focus on the positives and the excellent job our military and the Iraqi police are doing to restore order there. |

Why did we have 5 people murdered in Pittsburgh today? 8 people murdered in Los Angles? Six in Chicago? Two in Newark? Three in Seattle? Four in New Orleans? Two in D.C.? One in Denver? Seven in Pennsylvania? Fourteen in New York state. Ten In Flordia? All were reported. Stay tuned... it starts all over again at midnight tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that, and the day after that, and the day after that, etc. etc. etc. Where is the total outrage? |

iwo jima: over 5,000 marines in the first month
d-day:(just soldiers taking the beachhead) 90% casualties out of the thousands of soldiers who took place in the assualt in one day.

For the same reason there is no outrage over warrantless wiretaps against U.S. Citizens. Or the loss of habeas corpus. Or half the bill of rights. We are desensitized to death and political scandal, and just want to watch American Idol, eat steak, and go out on weekends. |

After you do everything you can to convince these knuckleheads that bush and cheney both need to be impeached, and they still won't admit the obvious, that bush knew more about what lead up to 9-11, than he's admitting, one becomes sort of calloused to the effect.
bush has completely pulled the wool over some republican's eyes.
