Plain and simply, he wasn't allowed. He went in and totally annilated Saddams army, got the job most of the way done in record time, but he didn't have the support from the political powers that be to be allowed to finish him. Its a damn shame he didn't. |

colin powell told him not to, for some reason, I don't know why, but they should have.
Basically that war was a waste.
I guess thats why he didn't get elected again. |

maybe so his totally incompetent son could ride the coattails of it politically. |

He was a paralyzed idiot surrounded by idiots. I never heard a man use the word 'principle' so many time, w/o the ability to apply the concept.
You do not win wars by leaving your enemy free to fight another day. They never consider the war to be over; just on standby. SH should have been pulled from the spider-hole and shot dead on the spot. This trial is just a continuation of Bush 1's stupidity. |

Bush I, who was a lot better than the sequel Bush II, figured that Baghdad would be difficult to capture and control for the very same reasons that is happening now in Iraq. Bush I thought the Iraqis were too contentious and divided among each other and had doubts who the new political leader should be. Plus Bush I was more of a humanitarian, who said in a speech that this country could be a kinder and gentler nation. The road to Baghdad was there for his taken and he chose not to take it. The only true failing of Bush I presidency was the Stock Market collapse in 1987 when he was vice-president for Ronald Reagan. After Bush I got elected in 1988, the economy was sputtering with masses lay offs and factory closures. When he ran in 1992 he carried the burden of an extremely weak economy, thus the reason he lost to Bill Clinton. |

i think because of Russia. They still had a lot of power than...if we would went and got Saddam or finished Iraq than, maybe it would have started world war III, but that is only what i think...thank you for that question |

The mission was to liberate Kuwait. Once they succeeded, he did not have UN support to take out Saddam. |

Because the resolution passed by the United Nations allowed only for the removal of Iraq from Kuwait. Bush Sr., unlike his son, stayed within the bounds of what the UN authorized him to do. |

saddam was nowhere near kuwait and we werent prepared to start an all-out war with iraq at that time |

the mission of desert storm was to get Saddam Hussein and his army out of Kuwait not to take him out of his dictatorship. The reason we are here now is because Mr. Bush said if you harbor terrorists willingly then we take military action against you. |

He was told by his advisors that the coalition partners would not go along with an invasion of Baghdad. The original mission was to get Saddam out of Kuwait. Obviously, he shouldn't have listened. |
