Why do I think that liberal anti-war folks did this?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chi-kass_03jan03,0,5792645,full.column

Marine Sgt. Michael McNulty -- now on his way to Iraq for his second tour of duty in the war -- took meticulous care of his car.

But someone didn't like the Marine sticker, or the pro-military plates, and decided to stage an anti-war protest, with a key or hard piece of metal, on the shiny black finish of Sgt. McNulty's car that caused $2,400 in damage.

Real brave these anti-war loons.

According to the Cook County state's attorney's office, it wasn't an accident, but a deliberate key job, not done by some kid or street thug, but by a Chicago lawyer who apparently can't stand the military.

Private attorney Jay R. Grodner, 55, of Chicago has been charged with a class A misdemeanor -- criminal damage to property -- punishable by up to one year in jail and up to a $2,500 fine, said Andy Conklin, spokesman for the state's attorney's office.

And I was right

OK, this has nothing to do with liberal or anti-war, I am conservative and anti-war.

It is an unconscionable act of a cowardly and deranged individual who can not cope with his emotions. The fact that it was an attorney is appalling, he should have known better.

Hmmm.... guess we need to hurry up and get him a one way ticket OUT of the US if he doesnt give a sh!t.

Yes, and the slim ball is fighting it, knowing that McNulty has to return to Iraq in the next few weeks and will not be able to be here to fight it in court.

Because they're unrestrained, degenerate deviants like that…
I feel bad for the Sgt who had to deal with this ****off.

thats f*cking sick.. and these are the people we are fighting to protect.

This is only the latest publicized attack. This is something that happens every day. When my husband was deployed, his truck was damaged several times. It was the only vehicle we had as we had sold my Jeep. Gas in the fuel tank (diesel engine) casued $5000.00 damage to the injectors; Loosening the lug nuts on the front wheels cause another $2500.00 damage and could have killed me; The truck was struck and huge creases put down the side of the bed causing $1500.00 each time it happened.
All because of the base sticker in the windhield and the troop support magnets on the tailgate.

These nuts all claim to love peace, yet they spred more hate and discontent than anyone.

Guys like that--who harp about stifling their "freedom of speech"--see nothing wrong with trying to stifle the "freedom of speech" of someone he disagrees with. Damaging the property of someone about to deploy to defend you because you don't like the president is childish and petty. Say what you will about the president, the war, or "freedom of speech"... I see more anti-war protestors getting in people's faces and refusing to learn what's really going on in Iraq and overall being destructive and disruptive than anyone who supports either the war effort or the president. Most of those people couldn't care less about the war or the actual facts about it; it simply makes convenient domestic political fodder for them to chant about and try to further their own selfish goals and interests. The fact that they'll confront and sometimes even threaten soldiers over it is indicative of the mania some of these people have given themselves over to. It's gotten to the point where most people refuse to even listen to anything positive about what's going on there. If it isn't popular, if it isn't in line with what THEY believe--it's not worthy of their time.

It's extremely disconcerting. Thank God none of these people were around during the Revolutionary War, Civil War, or the two World Wars. We'd have been screwed early on. Their selfishness and shortsightedness doesn't bode well for the future and well-being of Iraqis, though, much less the security of that whole region.

Why? Self vindication.

Your assessment is slightly off. Everyone is anti-war. That guy is anti-military.

Arby
It looked to me like the guy was upset about his backing up in the one-way, and thought the guy was throwing his weight around because he was in the military, more than an "anti-war protest." The article doesn't have facts to support that supposition.

Keying the car was a small, mean-spirited thing, not a "liberal anti-war" thing. Stupidity isn't confined to either party, and wrong is wrong, not liberal or conservative.

Bill Z
He's a lawyer. Enough said. Still, it doesn't prove he's a liberal.

Tommorow Belongs to Me
Your right!

Lets ban disagreeing with the war. That should stop the pandemic of anti-war car keying.

this lawyer could have been any of the 78% of the population that is not in favor of illegally invading another country for it's riches. Not just the liberals. And if the other fella that said Clintons hate the military too should do some homework. His budget that was shot down by the conservative senate during his term called for higher military spending then Bush ever approved. Check you facts.

So what is your point? Now everyone who dislikes the war will go around damaging cars? Not very likely. I read one where someone had a 9/11 conspiracy sticker on their bumper and there windshield was smashed. No one should do this everyone has a right to display something on their car no matter what the message. First Amendment. Don't call out isolated incidents and try to paint a picture of everyone that might have similar views. How about try something a little more productive, listen to other people's point of view, try to get them to listen to yours, and come up with some kind of consensus. That would be a lot better than just trying to tear down an entire group's integrity because some guy keyed a car. Thanks.

Unknown Alias
I think that will be the least of his worries if he gets blown to pieces in the imperialist occupation of Iraq (It's not a war).
