The Marines should get better more modern equipment but they don't. Even though they get deployed to do the same job as the Army you have to consider their original purpose to be the ones to secure a landing zone for the Army to come in. The Navy still recognizes this as their primary role in the armed services and budgets accordingly for that task. As a whole, the Marines only account for 6% of the Navies entire budget and the Marines in recent years have spent a lot of the money they do receive on the V-22 Osprey and are spending a lot of money now to develop a new vehicle to replace the AAV.
Yes the Marines are a well trained highly, effective fighting force. But they are being held back from their full potential with older out-dated equipment due to their primary mission and ridiculously low budget. |

well, based on hearsay, I hear that the USMC could have a bigger budget than it already has, but likes its reputation thats based on what it has. Thats where people say things like people join the Marine Corps to become Marines. Unlike the other branches with a lot of their perks for joining. |

Yeah.... Um no idea why.
But, I think it makes them better shots with the weapons they do have, and it teaches conservation.
That said, you would think that they would reward excellence. |

1: marines definately arent "elite" or better trained than your average infantryman in the army. they have an elite part (recon) but your average marine infantryman isnt johnny rambo.
2: bigger force=bigger mission=bigger budget. |

you'd think it'd at least be equal to the army. i asked a similar question and my answer was that the army was bigger. but still i don't think that deserves better. |

I never get tired of the "elite" marine mentality, actually, yes I do. Talk to the Department of the Navy, that is who is in charge of the Marines, and ask them why. |

army has a bigger branch so they get more money.
marine corps is a department of the navy so the navy tends to get most of it.
shit, my rifle and flak jacket back when I was in boot camp was from vietnam. (I graduated 3 years ago)
army has the cool shit, but Marines make do
